This is pretty much what I saw when I heard about the 2DS. Hinges = Breakable. No Hinges = Pure, 100% Nintendium Construction.
Yeah, I own a Mac. Yet, I don't think I purchased more than one game that I can play with it over the sale. Furthermore, I've gotten a lot of mileage out of Skyrim, and basically none out of New Vegas, Oblivion, Braid, System Shock 2, Age of Wonders 2, or Civ 5. I'm just glad that I managed to stop myself before my food budget was impacted too badly.
Truly, thou art a cruel, yet generous man, Gaben.
Actually, considering the temperatures on Venus, I think Venuscorch could work just fine.
Trust me, you haven't missed a lot. Metal Gear got a lot better, Final Fantasy got worse, and everything else seemed to plateau. Nowadays, you're tossed into one of three boxes- "hardcore," meaning you just play a lot of shooters; indie, which means you play a lot of independent games (and get labeled a hipster); and casual, which literally means any other game. Game companies endlessly pump out the same game every 1-3 years, and sometimes charge you extra if you want the entire game. Gimmicky motion control dominates one half of games, and the other is held by games that simply have the prettiest explosions. Sony sells its consoles like a luxury experience. Storylines of any console release have gotten angstier. Angry Birds has outsold the original Mario Bros.
Given the choice between the video games of today and the N64, I'd much rather have the N64.
