Moderators: time to weed out the anti-semites from this comment section.
Forward readers: ignore these people. Don't respond to them.

My parents receive pensions from Germany as survivors. That some people would take advantage of this fund and throw the entire community into disrepute is, in my opinion, beyond the pale.
This is just disgraceful...particularly if the Conference knew and kept silent.

Some people understand Zionism to mean the necessary ingathering of the Jews to Israel. With that understanding I can see being anti-Zionist.
If you see Zionism as the liberation movement of an oppressed people and accept other liberation movements but not Zionism then it is anti-semitic.
I agree that one can be anti-zionist without being anti-semitic. But I also agree that for most that is not the case.

A well reasoned reply, Stonington.

It's a big deal to those who care because 'working the rules' is a game in the mind of the perpetrators where they try to maintain the illusion of keeping the rules while trying to subvert them for their own comfort.
They think they have now found a way to subvert their interpretation of the law without ever having to admit they have done so. This device is one step further removed from 'lighting a fire' and as such is a valuable tool in their own meshugenah understanding of what Judaism is about.

That sounds perfectly reasonable. Did Bibi think, after the visit to Washington and the last days of the election campaign, that there would be no response from the U.S.?
The U.S. maintains a strong commitment to Israel but will assess options that further peace and American interests. Who would expect anything else?

I agree that it trivializes the term 'holocaust'. But in his actual comment he refers to 'a holocaust' not 'the Holocaust' and so I think the ADL is wrong here.

The comment itself was ignorant and stupid but the term 'holocaust' (uncapitalized) is not a term only we can use.

I would hardly call the American Revolution a 'liberation struggle'. There were grievances against Britain to be sure but I wouldn't call the colonies a terribly oppressed group.
And the Indians were defending their land against what was a colonial transgression.
That's why they mostly fought with Canada (the British) against the Americans in the War of 1812...to defend their land against fierce aggression from American settlers.

As for Francis Salvador...yawn. Not a very interesting story. He fought against the British for U.S. independence like many others. Ok, so he was Jewish. Anything else of interest about him?
