I'll answer it this way. If I'm right about Sarah Palin--that the McCain campaign gave her a taste for fame and fortune she couldn't resist--isn't this exactly what that would look like? She fell in love with the money and the attention, and she saw the only way to keep it all coming was to quit her job so she could travel, "write", go on TV, twitter, etc., all the live-long day. I agree that the complaints against her in Alaska were part of her reason for quitting, but not in the way you do. They were going to bog her down, and rather than face the drag of continuing to do her elected job she quit so she could go schmooze on Fox News, rake in the dough at autograph signings, etc.

(con'td.) Now, I hate to break the news to you but Dwight D. Eisenhower is DEAD, people. He's deader than a doornail, and he isn't coming back. You can freak out all you want to about HBO, Michelle Obama, "30 Rock", and the new Ben & Jerry's flavor, but you can't turn the clock back on history. You can try to legislate morality, but that's just the kind of Orwellian move you keep accusing Obama of making, and in any case it'll never work. You can't stuff time in a bottle and just make it stop, and America's never going to be like Mayberry, R.F.D. again no matter how much we want it to. A lot of big changes are coming no matter what we do, so we can either adapt and figure out the best way to go forward, or we can let it drive us all crazy, turn on each other, and burn the whole house down It doesn't take Einstein to see where the smart money lies on that one...

CNN and the rest of the MSM are in love with her as a story; about a year ago you couldn't look at CNN.com and not see at least one headline with the word "Palin" in it. She wasn't saying anything new or positive then, it was just a bunch of "Palin says this, Palin says that" blather. Editors and advertisers don't care whether the people clicking their links are angry liberals or happy conservatives, they just want us to click. And though Palin pretends to hate the MSM, she'd be dead in the water without it. Twitter only gets you so far. Palin and the press have a really dysfunctional relationship, with each of them enabling the other's worst features.
