Hero Complex - Los Angeles Times : 'Batman': Michael Keaton on 'The Dark Knight' -- and a lost scene from 1989 film

Keaton as Batman/Bruce Wayne is timeless cinema for me. An actor, a comedian, who defied the critics (and muscle bound morons like Stallone) and showed the world what playing a fantasy character is really about. He played it seriously but had fun while doing it. It was a drama that was allowed to moments of satire, without being silly. The suit in the Burton film (like the car and the gadgets and the scenery) were great but it was his performance in the suit that defined Batman for me. Keaton's Batman will always be Batman, more so than even the comic books. That may be wrong in fanboys eyes and in no way is a judgment on Bale or Kilmer (both who I think did a good job), but Keaton made the mark and it still imprinted on the character.

Big Hollywood : 'Inception' Is a Hit: What Did You Think?

Outside of Batman Begins I'm not a Nolan fan. Didn't like Insomnia or the Prestige. I found the films dry and devoid of any real entertainment value or any reason to care about the characters. Dark Knight I liked in parts but I thought it was far from the greatest movie, as so many claimed. Heck I don't even think its a great Batman film. Some say Nolan's films are intellectual. I say far from it. His work is elitist puffery. The sort of film that critics drool over, because of its so called high-minded concepts, and claiming its superiority to other films without a second thought. Critics react to Nolan the way journalist once reacted to Obama; with a thrill up the leg. Example: Dark Knight was about a hero not crossing an imaginary line between justice and vengeance/ order and chaos but it stressed the dilemma so much I found it unreasonable. Also the idea of a sociopathic killer playing a morality game with the hero is copied from David Fincher's Seven. In any form I disagree with the liberal concept. God knows the difference between sinners. A guy is shooting up half the city, and killed your girl friend; putting the jerk in the grave doesn't make you a monster like him. How stupid was Nolan's Batman that he played the game on the Joker's rules? One is an act of murder the other justice. However people lacking in common sense, faith in a forgiving God, or courage have a hard time distinguishing the difference between good and bad in the world. I could be wrong about Inception but I'm not wrong about his past films (at least as far as I'm concerned) so I'll wait until it comes on TV.

Big Hollywood : WATCH: 'Inception' Stars Trash Evil, Stupid Cheney & Palin -- Preach Hypocritical Environmentalism

Yes they are a bunch of dump Hollywood hippies! "Replace that fear and stuff" "Ah yeah what she said." LOL It is after all comedy because these fools believe the stink off of their own sh*t actually smells good. But this is Hollywood folks. Now don't tell me you didn't go see Toy Story 3 not thinking about all those recent fabulous comments made by Tom Hanks about mormons, conservatives, and U.S. soldiers in the Pacific. I think according to Tom Hanks we're all beautiful people to him when we pay him money but then once we leave the theater...Americans at least...we're all racist monsters. Not to mention it featured a host of liberals in its cast including Whoopi Goldberg. Stop to think about it the whole summer movie season is just one big ongoing Democrat convention. So you have but two things to do. I know these choices sort of suck BUT it is what it is. 1. You can stop going to movies. Stop renting movies. Stop feeding the institution that is in fact a giant one eyed (of course the eye is on its left side...ha ha) cyclops that loves to stomp on all it hates about the American way of life. You may not have to starve it to death but certainly until it learns who its master is...or at least in a large part is. 2. Just go see the movie as you've seen all others. No sense in getting upset now over stupid egotistical actors spouting out of their mouth liberal diarrhea. (Apparently that what happens when you kiss the ass of Obama, Clinton, Pelosi...etc). If you're not going to do anything about it there is little sense in getting upset about it. Seriously its not just actors, its tech companies (Apple, Google, Yahoo, MSN) with their liberal agendas, its even liberal scourges who Democrats supposedly hate but pocket a lot of money from. Scourges like BP (who Leo can't understand their warped mind) who supported Obama's cap and trade policy and has signed deals with this government. Its also even extends as far as media outlets like FOX News who act to be conservative but in fact simply profits from conservative personalities but their news divisions despite initial appearances tow a moderate to liberal line. (Example Fox radio was broadcasting blurb in between commercials about "Going Green.") Its a mess. America is held hostage by an elitist class. Either do something about it or do your best to ignore it. But for the love of God don't continued to be surprised by it!

Big Hollywood : RACISM: Mel Gibson May Rant But Leftist Hollywood Believes...

No I agree that would be true if I was talking about slavery in general. Slavery is just that slavery but the late 1700's all the way upto the civil war people wrestled the issue. The examples I provided of Washington, Jefferson and Jefferson Davis are documented in their writings. They all assumed that slavery would end on its own and they did indeed educate their slaves, taught them about God, and allowed them small freedoms like setting up their own slave court and punishments. There are other accounts I've heard on documentaries and read where slaves lived in the house with the rest of the family and went to church with the family...etc. Dont' believe me check it out for yourself. I'm not saying all slave owners were good slave owners. I'm not even saying such a thing exists. All I'm saying is that not all slave owners treated their slaves as objects or things. Many thought it was proper to treat slaves kindly in light of realizing that slavery was a "peculiar institution." You could say they were ashamed of it. Now I know this is really foolish in alot of ways. But these are people coming to grips with a practice that had existed for centuries and up until the 1800's they didn't think much more of it outside of a way of life. Its not really an excuse just the way it was. As for gay marriage being the new cause and interracial marriage being the old cause you'll have to ask Hollywood about that. In the 60's and 70's Hollywood often paired up interracial couples or showed movies showing the troubles of interracial couples. Though I'm certain there were troubles for mixed couples Hollywood never did anything to really help it. Films on the subject was always skewed to guilt people, to make the older generation appear racist and that America is nothing but an evil racist empire run by white people. Especially if the film took place in the south. Well now a days interracial marriages is no longer a big deal anymore. Why a conservative supreme court judge is married to a white woman. So Hollywood lost their little hot button issue to push the envelope, to enrage passions, to sensationalize or draw attention to itself. Along came the gay issue in the 80's and nineties to replace it and now we have the gay marriage issue. Only thing different black and white its a race issue. According to mainstream religion, there is no sin in being any race. Its just the way you're born. Yet many people actually believe homosexuality is a wrongful and willful act and therefore it is sin. So marriage is suppose to be something sacred and people take offense that gays are redefining marriage as something other than a holy bond between man and woman. Now Hollywood is trying to equate homosexuality with race. Every actor (the latest Mark Ruffio) is yelling about how Prop 8 is evil and gay marriage is a right. Others claim science proves men are born to love Gucci and women are born to love really short hair cuts. I don't know really, honestly...straight, gay...keep it in the bedroom I don't care to know your private life. The marriage issue on both sides seems a little silly to me. If you want to get married get married but if Jane and John doesn't want to recognize Tom and Tim's marriage and think their queer or whatever then...hey its a free country. Likewise if Tom and Tim think Jane and John's marriage is...so last millennium then they don't have to recognize it either. Bottom line all I am saying is that America's past is something not to be ashamed of. The south for all its faults of slavery was still a civilized society and not a dictatorship ruled by a despot like Hitler or Stalin or Chavez. Which Hollywood wants us all to become. All the left does is take the weak points in our past and tries to bring us down with it. But ask me this if this country really is so bad. If one fourth is indeed as racist as Nazi Germany why celebrate Independence day? Why celebrate one half of 13 colonies who were all slave states winning their independence from Great Britain? If you're only celebrating the so called good parts then we're not really United are we. Oh and um just so you know Northern factories during the industrial revolution employed young immigrant children and paid them like a piece of bread. So yeah...Got to love them Yankees...They're the good guys...right???

No its not a lie. People in the south were not Nazi evil. And yes many in the early years of America were coming around to it. People like Jefferson felt it was wrong but as you said $$$. Their whole livelihoods would be turned upside down and so they kept their slaves but a hundred years earlier before Jefferson there was little thought to the morality of slavery. Slavery was well intwined with English society and blacks weren't the only forced labor we also had white indentured servants. Its so easy to condemn people through the context of modern history but hey anybody who has anglo saxon heritage is a miserable bastard anyways so who cares. That goes double if your from the south. Never mind the majority of European heritage in the middle ages worked in a feudal system as serfs themselves. Never mind black tribal leader sold their own people into slavery. Never mind Boston ships carried those slaves over to the new world. Never mind after the civil war the the north confiscated privately owned southern lands and claimed they were going to give it to the blacks. Instead the majority of the land was used for carpet baggers to live on and build businesses on. What does Obama call that...redistribution of wealth? As for the Jim Crow laws and references to the KKK. It just proves my point that racism has flourished since the Civil War. The KKK, segregation, all came after the war and white supremacy was just not in the south. It wasn't like Lincoln magically solved racism. Gen. Sherman himself didn't believe in "equality" and was quoted as saying that if the north allowed slaves to vote he'd switched sides. Plus Lincoln didn't want the blacks to stay he wanted them shipped back to Africa...or have no one ever heard of Liberia. America has never come together as one people. We function admirably as a tolerant society but everybody equates everyone with a race. Time to get over it and stop demonizing people for a word or thought. Its what we do and not say that defines people. We've made laws that have leveled the playing field but that's exactly what society is today a playing field and not really a country of brotherly love where we all (not just soldiers) pledge our lives, our fortunes to each other in the name of liberty.

Good article but please don't even group hollywood liberals with the south. Liberals in regards to the south have done their work to demonize the south where everyone thinks its on the equivalence of Nazi Germany. Nobody doubts slavery was wrong. It is but people back then hadn't come around to that enlightenment. The worse you can say is that Christians who saw blacks as heathens should have converted them and not enslaved them...BUT its been documented that many people in the south who owned slaves did care for their souls and witnessed, who fed them properly and see that they were taken care for. DON"T GET ME WRONG...ITS STILL WRONG. But its far better than being gassed by some one who hates you as in WWII and ROOTS was a dramatization about the very worst of society and not the best. I would argue that the South as well as all of America became more racist after the civil war when government manipulated and forced the situation for political advantage stirring the fears of ignorance and the foolish. Southern slave owners like George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and Jefferson Davis thought that American slavery was in transition and would end on its own (as it had in Britain) and it was for responsible owners to educate slaves, and allow them to set up their own courts and punishments for themselves. Sure its STILL SLAVERY AND ITS STILL WRONG but in the eyes of such southerners the end game was to have the black man fully invested in American society and be equal brothers in Christ. Nor in the end would it be a white society or a black society but an American society. Hollywood view on racism is not nearly so well meaning as men like Washington. They exploit stereotypes while damning any of us who utter a single word that they oppose. They promote the lowest common denomination among their culture as being representative of a race and yet get angry when anyone else tell a pollock joke. Today's hollywood culture is the most debased, hypocritical and wicked culture that America has ever produced. Note how easily they have abandon old causes for new ones. Yesterday's rallies for interfaith or interracial marriages are todays million dollar functions in support of gay marriage. What will be tomorrows cause marriage between a straight man and a gender-changed woman or will we just skip to being allowed to marry the family dog. The only equality that left seeks is to have everyone rid their beliefs in God.

Big Hollywood : AP: Judge Sends Lindsay Lohan to Jail

Well the difference is Downey was a likable person and if I'm not mistaken believed he got hooked on drugs because his father introduced him to it when he was a little kid. Lohan when she is sober is another typical elitist who spews trash from her mouth and thinks she's better then everyone who lives in a red state. She was one of the many brain dead celebrities who supported Obama and slammed Sarah Palin (because she was stealing the photo ops). I say yeah I hope she likes Downey gets some common sense in prison but she needs more than just sobering up. She need a good kick in the ass and perhaps to simply endure the perils of the real world and finding a job in a crap market that Obama allows to deteriorate. I'm tired of all these Disney kids growing up to be sluts and junkies. They all blame it on not knowing what to do with all their money well boo hoo frickin hoo. Maybe America should start rewarding success to people who is responsible and will enjoy it properly. Maybe we should look to be more sympathetic to the homeless veterans in our cities then these celebutards who wonders why the world is always against them. Good riddance.

Hey now. Quantum of Solace wasn't bad just incomplete. It endured fires that destroyed sets and removed scenes as well as a writers strike which removed another half hour of the story. I would agree it would have been better for them to have postponed the second film to do it right instead it was kind of like a low budget Bond film. With that being said I still enjoyed it because it did conclude the events left open at the end of Casino Royale and teased Bond fans with a modern day version of an evil organization like Specter. Plus it had awesome car crashes, plane crashes, and gun fights at museums and a really bizarre Opera. Still Bond is more about just one film...its about tradition, legacy, and a good time. I say long live the series and may Lohan remain out the public light forever.

Yeah but Downey Jr. was at least a likable person. When this chick is sober she has nothing but trash coming out of her mouth. That whole Mickey Mouse harem needs to be sponged from the streets of Hollywood. Britney, Miley, Christina, Lindsey and all their friends like Paris, the Kardashians and all the other leaches who have no talents just money and plastic surgeons need to be exiled. Yeah Obama can just tax them to death and leave the rest of the country alone and I would be fine with that.

What??? Does she make movies anymore??? Who cares about this tart. Meanwhile Big H did not report the real sad news in Hollywood: MGM cancelled the next Bond movie! Right now if I'm Daniel Craig I'd think I get all dressed up and just go around saying I'm Bond...because it looks like thats as close as he is going to get to the play the hero again.
Yeah I remember seeing it at a theater. Great date movie. I liken it to a big budget drive-in movie. Pure B rated cheese...and just like all good alien invasion movies it loses something when it hits the small screen. BUT...I got to say it. Lord help me but I actually prefer Mars Attacks. Ha ha ha. In my defense what really was a more realistic way to kill the aliens...a computer virus or Slim Whitman? Yeah exactly Slim Whitman. I mean c'mon man...the aliens didn't travel across the galaxy without having either a firewall or Norton's set up on the computers? That unbelievable! As for Slim Whitman...who could have prepared for that?

Big Hollywood : Wonder Woman Reboot: Strident Feminism Is the Problem, Not the Costume

Intent aside I like the new look. Back in the 40's when she was created the bathing beauty look worked. It worked all the way through the 1970's with Linda Carter because despite her strength she was seen as a normal woman with grace and feminine charms. In other words she wasn't a tomboy, she wasn't a butch, she wasn't a woman trying to make it in a mans world, she wasn't a symbol of feminism that trounced on men's emotions. In the old costume, in todays time, the halter tops and shorts conjure up images of soccer player's sports bras, and other jock/butch-like women come to mind. Really outside of Butch Lesbians who wants to watch a woman who can be as nasty in her habits as a man. So this upgrade makes Wonder Woman look more fashion-oriented, more stylish. More like a woman who doesn't have to prove she can play with the boys...because after all she's Wonder Woman. Besides she does have stars on her shoulders and the colors are still Red, White, Blue and Gold. With that being said I wouldn't go too far in messing with American Icons. Thought it was a disgrace when the screwed up the "Truth, Justice and the American Way " line in Superman Returns by saying, "Truth, Justice and all that."

Agreed. And Mars Attacks is insightful. At the end of the movie when society has crumbled under the martians. Who stands on the step ready to play the Star Spangled Banner. An El Mariachi band. Ha ha. As well it also spoofed Colin Powell as a wishy washy, opportunist of a general. Paul Winfield was brilliant in the role. A wonderful comedy that is far better than Independence Day.

Excuse me. I'm only 33 and was eight when it came out to theaters. I'm not middle aged yet. Soon but not yet. :) As for the remake...ugh enjoy it if you want to...but really it was a remake that was brought out only to make Will Smith's son a star. That's fine...I guess. Its nepotism and it runs rampant in Hollywood and in politics. Its just that its a way of keeping other deserving people out. That being said the kid has some talent but it would have been far better to have waited until the kid was at least 15. And it should have been in America and real Karate not Kung Fu.

Ha ha. I did not know of the Rescuers and only recently discovered the Bugs Bunny joke. Shame on Friz Freleng (he directed the cartoon). Ha ha ha ha. Anyways good conversation. Its been a pleasure :)

Well OK here we go again. Oh well nothing's funner then debating trivial matters. :) 2. You may have your model sheet. But I have this image at http://caligulaversusnero.files.wordpress.com/200... Maybe he did have knobby knees but the animators when drawing the image I linked had to say, "He he do you know what this looks like." I'm just saying. I think its just a little wink and a nod thing...not a big conspiracy. Nope, Disney attempts to sex up our kids later with Britney Spears and Hannah Montana...Ha ha ha. I kid, I kid...no wait...what is Billy Ray's daughter doing on TV... on second thought? Hmmmm. 3. Once again I will state for the record before God and man. I have heard the saying, "Good children take your clothes off." I would swear that in a court of law. That's how certain I am. AND...AND according to Wikipedia though Disney denies the existence of the hidden track...The scene with Aladdin and Ra Jah was edited for the dvd release. So if that is true SOMETHING was UP! Ah HA! By jove! Well that was fun? Who is up for some Chinese?
