I'm not saying there's a problem with girly things, my issue is the approach their taking.
Lauren set a standard for storytelling in her universe that appeals to everyone because it's straight up enjoyable, I know as a kid I was really frustrated at children's books and would look for more interesting things to read because very few of them had that.
As you say there are some classic children's stories of exceeding and rare quality but their few and far in-between.

I might be wearing a tinfoil hat but I can't help but think they might start heading back into G3.5 territory with the brand (not necessarily the show).
Lauren's work is proof that you can make something digestable for a young audience but still be really enjoyable for anyone to experience, if you had kids wouldn't you find it nice if you could read a story along with them and not feel like everyone involved (including the author) was being talked down to?

Also if MLP WAS made for bronies it would turn sour incredibly quickly, I don't want content aimed at us because that misses the point entirely, I just want good content.

This is all downright horrifying...
The original show was also aimed at little girls but was made incredible by Faust's vision and ideals of not talking down to your audience like their age 2 and hasbro just doesn't seem to get that.
It should never be a case of "aimed at us, aimed at them" because it shouldn't matter when good storytelling is involved, excusing it as being intended for little girls is absolutely unfair and a copout when we loved the show in spite of that in the first place.

It looks like hasbro is trying to take it back to older gens with teaparties, sickly 'friendship' and not a character flaw in sight.
