Listverse : 10 Questions To Make You Think

I understand "uncanny valley". If I had a realistic-looking robot sitting across from me and not doing anything I'd imagine it coming to life and jumping up at me, even though I know better. That's why ventriloquist dummies can make me uneasy. Even though they aren't realistic-looking and I know they aren't alive, just because they have eyes and someone could make it look like they're talking and moving their head I imagine them doing it on their own. yes, I need help.

Listverse : Top 10 Internet Plagues

Lately, Facebook has taken the brunt (is that the word I want to use?) of all the cases against privacy. There are 2 types of FB users-those that want to have as many friends as possible and those that just want another way to connect with people they know (like me). There are settings. If you don't adjust them to who can see your pics and posts, then all the friends that you have that you don't know in real life will see them. Even people you know in real life will see embarrassing pictures. You can't post things and then say, "Bad Facebook! Naughty!". It's not Facebook, it's what you did. Quit blaming Facebook. I've reconnected with friends and relatives that I haven't seen in 20+ years. I love it.

But all that's moot once it's in a landfill. I've been trying to tell treehuggers for years about landfills being airtight and preventing everything in it from biodegrading properly.

Listverse : Another 10 Moral Dilemmas

How is the daughter's sleep-over a moral dilemma? It's not a case like if the boy doesn't stay the night the daughter dies, but you don't believe it's "right" and goes against your morals. If you say "NO" then it's "NO". If you don't want a boy over overnight, then tell her "NO" and don't worry about "being unfair to her". Kids always want to do things you don't want them to do and you don't need to worry about being "fair" to them. I think this is a case of "I don't want my kids mad at me". I don't care if times have changed-if you don't want a boy to spend the night then say "NO". It's ok to use that word. :)

What does "pleasantly itching" (#5) mean? I'll never be a drug addict. I've had numerous surgeries throughout my life and I've had very bad side effects from every pain killer prescribed to me. Even Oxycodone was not even close to being as pleasant as described here. Don't get me started on Vicodan! Or codeine. Or many others.

Last weekend my husband and I saw half a rainbow! It was surreal- we had to ask each other if we were really seeing that. It showed up the morning after we had a blizzard (we got 22 inches of snow!) and not after rain. I wonder if there's any correlation?

I've got a Betty Boop tattoo on my back close to the shoulder. It's not supposed to mean anything, I just thought it was cute. I am not a trend follower. If you don't want one, don't get one. Now, I'm thinking about getting a fairy with my husband's name incorporated into the wings somehow.
Listverse : Top 10 Greatest Mathematicians

I'm sorry, but I gotta comment to people who think anyone can do math but are too lazy to really try- Why can people accept that some people can't draw, no matter how hard they try? Or that some people have trouble reading/spelling, but they won't accept that some people have trouble with math? It's how their minds are wired. I have a friend who was told in highschool that there wasn't a spot left in algebra 1 for another week but she could sit in algebra 2 and could just bring a book there for that time. Well, she ended up skipping 1 because she understood it right away and ended up helping the students in 2 so they let her stay in 2! It's easy for some people. No matter how good my teachers are/were I JUST CANNOT COMPREHEND anything beyond the basics. I would actually cry in frustration because I just didn't get it. By "cry" I don't mean "cry out" I mean actual tears (and I've seen other students do it, too). I don't understand why some people refuse to accept the fact that not everyone can do math.

Listverse : Top 10 Genre-Defying Covers

If the cover version came out first (making it the original), and the original was the cover, would you still feel the same way about the songs? Not trolling-when hubby and I hear covers on the radio we always ask ourselves that. If we hate the cover, would we hate the song if that was the first version that came out, even though we loved the original?
