When I was freshman in college (1973) I took New Testament Survey in the seminary department. After 3 weeks of finding out how the New Testament came to be I left Christianity. Not sure I would have called my self atheist. Looking back I would say I was an apa-theist - I just did not care about the question of God's existence.

Can you imagine pastors getting up and explaining how we don't have original copies, errors and purposeful additions, many of Paul's letters are fakes, etc.?

I'm not sure who said that the Southern Baptists were right about slavery (according to the Scriptures) before the Civil War.

I became an apa-theist in 1973. Anti-theist in 2001. Hard to imagine going back at all.

My wife is undergoing her second treatment for cancer. She has had operations, biopsies, scans, 3 years of chemo. You might realize this is expensive. The Republicans want to remove the lifetime caps and preexisting conditions in the ACA.

You might imagine how I feel talking to my Republican friends who are praying for her.

I still associate with these friends, but I realize what they are

I saw Jaws on TV, I thought it was a comedy. The shark was so hokey, sort of reminded me of the special effects in Monty Python's Holy Grail
