The end result is breathtaking! Of course, I'm biased as I'm an orange fan. What a fun project for everyone!

I love the lanterns! I have also made the mistake of trying to do a modge-podge project with my two year old. Uh, yeah, not a good idea!
I'm glad I'm not the only mom who has kids dragging in mud and such...good thing we have a brown couch! :)

Fun! I remember panning for gold as a child. I remember taking my little vial of water with some sand and gold specks in it for show and tell in kindergarten, and none of the kids believed that there was really gold in there! I guess they were expecting a big chunk of gold!

Oooh! I bet you were in heaven! I recently purchased some Cestari yarn to knit my husband a sweater with. It's beautiful yarn!

They are most likely Himalayans blackberries, which are a major invasive species here in OR (but at least it's a yummy invasive species!)

These photos remind me of my childhood and visiting my grandparent's small town, walking along with my grandfather while balancing on the track rail, the thrill of walking across the train bridge, hot summer evenings... Makes me want to take my kids down to the raildroad tracks to explore!

The description of the last photo of Larkspur made me laugh out loud! Such a thoughtful gift for her dog! :)
I love this series of yours. Your kids are going to have fond memories of searching out these remarkable trees. I wonder if there is a similar book for Oregon? My husband is a state forester, so it would be especially fun for him. Off to go investigate!

My husband has true allergies to wheat, barley, chicken eggs, dairy and soy, and my son has autism and we use a gluten free/dairy free diet therapeutically for him. So yeah, there is not a lot that we can eat! I make everything from scratch. It's a lot of work, but I've been doing it for five years now and have gotten used to it. We hardly ever get to go out to eat, and when we do there are only a couple choices! Oh well. When people hear about all the foods our family can't eat they are like "oh, I could NEVER do that!" which is frankly annoying because we *are* doing it and are healthier for it!

And after Christmas this year we've decided to start the GAPS diet (Gut and Psychology Syndrome) to try to heal my husband's and son's guts (mine as well, I can't eat dairy). With GAPS you cut out all grains, dairy, eggs, soy, etc. and slowly add back in everything but grains overtime.

We are planning to add a few egg-laying ducks next year to our little backyard homestead. My husband and son can tolerate duck eggs but not chicken. It will be so fun, I can't wait!

Oh gosh, how did you know that this was *exactly* what I needed to read right now. Thank you for the reminder to freeze the beautiful and peaceful moments in my own life to look back on when I feel like my mind is spinning out of control. Your photos are like a breath of fresh air.
