I mean TECHNICALLY there's nothing new with writing. I think now it's all about the execution, so even though I've read the same tropes, stories, and character arcs, I think it's really interesting to see someone's take and execution to a really well known story. It's really interesting to see their interpretation of it and their reimagining of it.

I would really recommend it! The people are really nice here and the food is really awesome as well. I hope you get to come to Taiwan at some point.

I'm LOVING The Raven Boys and The Raven Cycle. It's definitely giving me some heavy ship feels I haven't felt in a long time and I can't wait to continue on into the series. ADSOM just totally fulfilled my fantasy needs and I'm going to start AGOS soon!

It's mostly the interface that's totally messing me up! Otherwise I think I would've done it a while ago. We'll see. I definitely might want to move over.

I think the problem now a days is that having these dark and gritty stories are totally what's the trend right now. What's the easiest way to make people feel like the story is dark and gritty? Take out a good family dynamic.

Maybe I should! A couple of books come to mind, but it'll be hard to find a good number of them.

It isn't actually. It's a stock photo I got off of unsplash. I wish I could tell you where that dress is from, it's amazing *heart eye emoji*.

I have a really good relationship with my mom as well. It's really sad that I can't see these YA characters going through their stories and not knowing that they can lean on their parents to help them out. I know that no matter what happens, my mother will always be there to support me--so it's really upsetting seeing these YA characters that don't. We just need more of this dynamic in YA.

Ah that's a point I didn't put out in this post. Yes, there's also a huge problem with clueless and incompetent parents. I agree that we need more competent and good adults that can be a form of parental figures for these YA characters.

I will! I have to get through Dream Thieves first, but I'm definitely excited to start on AGOS! It just resonated so much with my love of SoC that I couldn't help but compare them. They're widely different, but the character dynamics really reminded me of SoC.

Ahaha yeah, in general I really didn't like the novel aside from the racist stuff. It was just really annoying to read the Eleanor in my opinion. The Park thing still boggles my mind. I've told my mom about it and she's like, "Well... maybe the mother wanted him to keep his Korean last name?" but it's obvious that she was really confused lmao. Koreans don't get a lot of coverage in Western media in general, so I get really defensive when it hits anything. I want my culture to be portrayed correctly and respectfully. This whole situation just made me really, really mad.

If I was being honest here, Park's mom would NOT be happy about their relationship. Eldest sons (and only sons) are huge parts in family dynamics and if you thought white parent in laws were bad, oh boy. Korean mother in laws are ten times worse. Park's mom wouldn't really be happy with his choice of romantic partner right off the bat.

Yes I love reading about star crossed lovers. It's always such a good story to fall behind haha. I didn't really mind the slow action or if I did, I don't really mind anymore haha. I just know that some readers are really into fast action. I'm good with either or as long as the writing is able to hold my interest. I recommend giving it a try!
