Political? No, but there was an emotional equivalence in it. It was really about personal motiviations, insinuating that the DHS guy was "too close" to the case, and the spec ops guy "couldn't forgive." while the syrian guy basically didn't care, and only offered help because he knew it would shame the US. It was a much more complex, overall story than left right left right. The syrian spymasters interest in all of the muslims insinuated that there was more to their "innocent dupe" status than being innocent dupes. There was some apologia but not much. It was more about people dealing with a horrible situation.
