Healthy Eats : Getting Ready for Spring: Start Planning Your Garden

it's true, you should definitely plant things you enjoy eating, otherwise you run a high risk of abandoning the whole project altogether. this year I'm growing basil and mint. not exactly serious stuff, but it's my first year gardening and i'm very excited. plus, I'm in need of basil all summer long with the light, fresh dishes I like to cook. I recently wrote a piece on grafted salad trees, which are convenient for people to grow multiple fruits on one tree if they live in more condensed city centers. http://veggietestkitchen.com/savoring-grafted-sal... Cheers!

Well-Heeled, With a Mission : Bitten By the Shopping Bug

ironic i just found this post today. i just went on a shopping bender this afternoon. bought a suit at Theory for 140 bucks, a crazy steal. and it's a thicker blend for the winter. i love their suits. now that i'm unemployed i have the time to find deals!!! found a pair of ferragamo work pumps for around 150 bucks also but didn't buy them. waiting for some kind of offer to go nuts. but when i'm working i never have the time to shop around and all the apparel regrets i've ever had were about not buying something awesome. it's good to stock up when you get the bug and are lucky enough to find deals!

Healthy Eats : 5 Ingredients: Whole-Wheat Irish Soda Bread

I love Irish soda bread. It's so easy to make, and no yeast required. I made my first loaf (it was so exciting to see a real piece of artisinal looking bread come out of the oven) in December and recently made an olive version. Check it out: http://veggietestkitchen.com/irish-soda-bread/ Happy St. Patty's everyone!

I love to stick spinach and broccoli into my soups or sauces. I just turn the immersion blender on them to make creamy alfredos like the one I did here: http://veggietestkitchen.com/broccoli-alfredo/

I'd love to know about which nutrients we need to get everyday and how often. It's pretty overwhelming keeping track of each additional one. meal planning tips to maintain a well balanced diet would be much appreciated. http://veggietestkitchen.com

Healthy Eats : 10 Ways To Eat Less Meat

Great idea!! I'd love to do a vegan/vegetarian show ;) In the meantime, there are definitely a lot of resources available on the net to give great tips and ideas (like my website!). At the end of the day television is all about entertainment and the personalities. People don't really use it as a resource as they would a cookbook or a recipe blog.

How strange to put dried fruit with broccoli. I've never had that, and it doesn't really sound that appetizing . I love baking dried fruit into bread, or even tempering chocolate to make dried fruit chocolate bars.

Healthy Eats : In Season: Passion Fruit

yah, it's kind of strange because there's so little of the pulp and seeds once you open the fruit. but what little there is, is addictingly good!! i am pretty fearful of strange foods, but i ended up falling in love with these when i was in Thailand last year. I would have like three with my breakfast every morning. It made me appreciate passion fruit juice so much more!

I love to eat good chocolate just by itself. I also, of course, love the chocolate chip cookies. I make a really great oatmeal chocolate chip cookie that has practically no flour in it, all the bulk comes from the oats. They're heavenly!
yes, this sounds like just the right superbowl snack for me. the heartiness is much appreciated this year since we're facing cold spells all over, and i am totally with you on introducing the tangy accent. i think it could work with low fat sour cream as well. i don't know how the two stack up in relation to one another, but i personally find sour cream to be much lighter than cream cheese.

The Tomato Tart : Vegan Chinese New Year Linguine

wow, this looks like a really cool fusion dish. you know, i love making baked tofu at home. it's so easy and i find that the seasonings i add really get infused during the baking process vs the store bought baked stuff that just tastes bland to me. i am addicted to the homemade baked tofu. i had some for breakfast today. i have a short tutorial on my site here in case you're interested: http://veggietestkitchen.com/lettuce-wraps/ i'm also hosting a giveaway today you might be interested in. cheers .
