The Sheaf : USSU Election Results

Anonymous, We do in fact have a professional image on file for Leon. The candid picture used in this article was taken immediately after the election results were revealed. As he was the solitary student on campus to actually run for any of the six possible senate positions, we figure he must give at least one shit, if not two, about his position.

The Shlog : What is the meaning of this poster?

We were simply taken aback by the university's apparent endorsement of a statement on abortion, which most people do not generally associate with issues of racism. There could well be a connection, but that's what we're going to look into. Thanks for your comment, Tim.

The Sheaf : Saskatoon Ward 5 election Nov. 29

Sickle, Thanks for the feedback. Although there is undoubtedly more we could have included (there always is) there was also not a lot of information available about all the candidates. In a ward election, people typically run on their background and don't provide detailed outlines of their views. Could we have done more to find out? Probably. But even the candidates' official profiles on Saskatoon.ca are rather short on detail. You are correct to point out that seemingly innocuous phrasing can signal bias. It is something we work at all the time. Hopefully this doesn't seem thin-skinned. We just like to stand up for our volunteers' writing since their contributions largely set the direction of our coverage. If you would like to change that direction at any time, you can do so by contributing as well. Again, thanks for the feedback. -ishmael daro, web editor
