Oneida County HAD a humane officer without benefits or retirement at one time for half the pay an investigator at the sheriffs department made, but they couldn't afford that position. The sheriffs department is understaffed, has too few investigators now to adequately cover the criminal events in the county that happen to people and property let alone animals. Why not have each town and village pay a small fee into a yearly stipend to keep a humane office in call through the sheriffs department instead of pushing such a position as an investigator in the sheriffs department? This county is understaffed to begin with and does a good deal of work that is never publicized. Now this idea of an investigator being used full time and taken from criminal cases involving people and property sounds good to others? Where are your priorities?

I appreciate the efforts of the Sheriff standing up for the constitutional rights of the people of the County. This is why he was elected. These laws were enacted FAR too fast and are unreasonable restrictions on citizens, they will do NOTHING to deter crime, only prevent people from defending themselves.

Today the headlines are coming out defending the modern day brat. The white house after a week of being beaten over the head is saying she was visiting a friend who's father passed away and this was all about tea and sympathy. Again stating that this came off the Obama's dime .. failing to accurately report that they don't pay for Air Force two, the fighter escorts, secret service, vehicles, gas etc etc etc etc etc. Which ends up costing somewhere in the neighborhood of half a million dollars. Yeah they may pay for their own rooms, but that is small potatoes compared to the security measures that have to be employed. However in reference to your well written article I would remind you that he extravagant taste also runs to some three thousand dollar boots etc. and her sense of fashion is high on our dime, whereas when laura Bush bought new dinner ware for the White House the media went NUTS. But this is something we have seen before in history and it is repeating itself. Can anyone else remember Imelda Marcos??????

The real problem here is that Rangel should be put in jail and the media is softening the blow for him to be slapped on the hand. I'm sorry, did I miss something or did Japan NOT Bomb Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 Killing 2,335 servicemen and 68 civilians, wounding 1178 people? Did the Japanese deceive the U.S. by saying false statements and expressed interest in continued peace. YES they did ... something that E.C. Everett may want to consider when he says that Japan was negotiating surrender. They were deceptive in every thing that they did when it came to negotiations from beginning to end. Was there even a formal war going on in the morning of December 7, 1941? NO there was not. Not until they attacked that is. Obama apologizing .. who would have thunk it? He is sorry that the United States EVER became a world power. He is angry about it's history because of his grandfather and father's teachings period. He wishes to put the United States in it's place with his "fundamental change" especially against the whites who he believes have yet to pay for the sins against his people from Kenya. What he fails to remember all to often is that his mother was white and other blacks sold their own race into slavery. But he will rewrite history as he goes along apologizing to the world for America's strength and benevolence.

Damn right! Once we have troops on the line it is on! We need to do everything we can to support them - especially from politicians who do more to lose wars with their politicking then anything. We would never even have competition on a battlefield if our enemies didn't have the inclination that politicians were not behind our troops. They would never mess with us. But when they think that they have political allies in the congress then they continue on, hoping to defeat us with public opinion. ANY politician who makes such statements is giving aid and comfort to the enemy.

The federal government had a policy in place for just such a spill. The plan was to surround the spill with booms within the first 24 hours and burn off any oil that could not be recovered underwater. This would stop the environmental impact on the shore lines. Why didn't Obama do this? This is something that needs to be made public and investigated. he is allowing this to continue. Now it is far to late for containment procedures that WERE IN PLACE.
