http://onefitfoodie.com/ : The Unhealthy Side of "Healthy Living Blogs"

I think the blogging version of "healthy living" is what most non-blogging folk would just call "skinny living." A lot of it is just people blogging about their life trying to stay skinny, and using the term "healthy" to put a veil on it that makes it seem okay. I think back to my "healthy living" days and shake my head. I don't give a damn if I'm skinny anymore. I wake up every morning wishing that I could just be healthy - in the truest sense of the word. Also, to be blunt, I think a lot of the "healthy living" stuff is just immaturity. As a person gets older, they realize how valuable their health really is. That does not include fake food and beating your body into the ground with overexercising.

I need to go here!! Those flavour combos sound amazing and the buns look really good (an underrated part of the burger, imo). I'm also down for some beer battered veggies!

http://www.love-life-project.com/ : A Reader of Books, a Reader of Blogs

One of my favourite things about blogging is the interaction it encourages. It's a great way to meet and communicate with like minded people online. With that said, I agree that there is this underlying feeling that we have to 1) acknowledge we are reading, and 2) be acknowledged for reading. I think comment sections should be for additional discussion and not for things like "great post!" I used to be the blogger who tried to respond and comment on everything. But since getting sick, I put my own foot down about it. I don't (and can't) care if my readers think I'm a meanie for not saying thank you to every single comment. It's time consuming, I don't get paid for it, it causes too much pressure and stress, and my time is better spent healing and being present elsewhere. It was easier to do when only 15 people read my blog, but now it's just not feasible :( That's why I love Twitter. It's much easier and quicker to interact with people on there!

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : Are You a Girlie Girl, Weekend Snacks

I'm not a girlie girl at all!! I really don't care about fashion or my hair or nail polish. I've always gotten along best with guys and don't typically "click" with other women. Especially when they ARE girly girls! With that said, I did grow up in a family of all girls. We never played sports or did anything tomboy-ish, so I suppose that sort of saved me from being a straight-up tomboy ;)

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : Sold my Polar, Selling on Ebay or Craigslist

I stopped wearing my heart rate monitor months ago. It got to the point where I could tell where my heart rate was just by the way I was feeling, and wearing the chest strap to tell me what I already knew became a pain. Plus, it put too much stress into my workouts. I found myself always checking the watch and worrying that I wasn't getting a good enough "burn." I find I enjoy my workouts MUCH better without stressing about what numbers are popping up on my wristwatch. As for a Garmin, I really couldn't care less about how far or fast I'm running. I'm not training for anything, I just run because I like it for exercise :)

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : City Life, Do You Like Where You Live

I'm having a love/hate relationship with Toronto right now. It's a city of 5 million and I live smack in the middle of it. I walk out my door in the morning and am accosted by traffic, noise, people. There is no green space. I spend anywhere from 2-4 hours A DAY on public transportation (I work a one hour streetcar/subway ride away). Sitting on the subway so many hours a day is crushing my soul. Plus, there's the "big city" mentality of go-go-go. Everyone here is always stressed out and SO career focused. On the other hand, there's always something to do here and some pretty cool events. The restaurants are uh-mazing. But I honestly can't wait to get back to my sleepy town out East. My back-up plan right now is to be back there by April and I'm counting down the days :)

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : Recipes with Raisins

I love raisins!! One of my favourite snacks is a wasa cracker with peanut butter, cinnamon, raisins and honey on top. Funny, when I was a kid, I used to beg my dad to buy my dried pineapple. I LOVED that stuff, and unfortunately am now allergic to it :( I just realized it's a holiday in the States! Canada doesn't get another holiday until EASTER. Lame.

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : New Camera Lens Arrived

I love my 50mm lens! The shots are a lot more crisp with it and the depth of field makes food really "pop." Although, I find I have to be careful not to set the aperture too low or I get too much bokeh, which just results in a blurry photo. My next camera purchase is going to be a tripod. I actually got one for Christmas but we had to return it. Can't wait to finally get one! Having a steady surface makes a HUGE difference in clarity of photos :)

Umm, yeah, I'm totally nursing a hangover today. That's what I get for going out drinking TWO nights in a row :\\ Best thing I ate though, hands down, were sliders we made last night with goat cheese and a choice of pesto mayo or curry mayo. I also ate a delicious cheeseburger crepe! (noticing a theme here?) As for picture size, I shoot in 10 megapixels. I find it's big enough to capture a sharp image, but not so big it takes up a bunch of space on my site. I can already your photos are of better wuality!

I've been wanting to make these for so long!!! It's not the kind of sweet treat my family usually likes though. I made cake balls last year and they weren't that big of a hit. When I bake biscuits or scones though, they're GONE. Maybe it's the Scottish in us? :P P.S.
Yayyy! You're in Aruba!! That is some crazy travel. And your little girl is such a trooper! I used to be all about getting "x" number of hours of sleep every night but I'm a lot more relaxed about that now. I find QUALITY is much more important than quantity. Now I do everything I can to get a relaxing, deep sleep. I wake up feeling more refreshed after 6 hours than I used to after 9! Can't wait to see more Aruba pics. Getting away from the craziness over the holidays is such a good idea :)

http://www.loveveggiesandyoga.com/ : Keeping a Sense of Humor, Pre-Thanksgiving Links

I toooootally have the same sense of humour! (maybe that's why we read each other's blogs!) Most people don't even get it when I make a joke, and I don't find typical comedies to be all that funny. Except Seinfeld. That show makes me laugh like no other. But it can be pretty biting and sarcastic sometimes too ;) I am seriously jealous of the American long weekend!! Canadian Thanksgiving was almost 7 weeks ago now. I worked that day and had Subway for dinner. Totally lacklustre :(
