This is not just an awful thing for someone who is trying to represent people to say; it is an awful thing for a HUMAN to say.

Seriously, suicide is a serious problem and any respect I had for Pan has been removed. How can anyone defend this position?

We should have another installment of "Shit our Spam Comments Say". I think I remember one post of that awhile back.

My 2 pennies: hyphenated Americans for some, general color descriptors for others creates unnecessary racial barriers. I see the need for a scholarship offered to high achieving black or minority students but let's call it that.

Thinking that all individuals with white skin are Americans, while thinking that all individuals with other color skin skin are African-American, or Chinese-American, or Latino-American is an easy way to feed an "Us" vs "them" mentality. I think these classifications further entrench the idea that we are different from each other which is absolutely the wrong way to look at it.

If we want to make real racial progress in this country, we should start by ALL being Americans. American who happen to look different.

I think that, especially with today's announcement that Komen will return to PP, it was a substantially calculated PR move. Both organizations made a ton of money to be put forward into their research and services.

Within a year, the controversy will be forgotten, the pink ribbon is too ubiquitous to take a hit from something like that.

Again, good financial calculations CFO's of the Komen/PP. Well done.

I do agree that the open committees do some great things and are a strength of the structure we have now. However, while the Association side functions reasonably well (Leg. Affairs is the the committee I still get emails about so I know they are doing work) but its the Government side that could use a little work. Council seems to hinder rather than support our committees most of the time which is a shame. Giving more distinct jurisdictions may help that? But I haven't read the new document as I said earlier.

Hopefully, any downvotes (I gave you +1) don't keep you from commenting in the future. Your engagement here in issues is something that I think brings a lot of value to the community. It allows meaningful dialogue without always being about votes and quorum in Council. Hopefully, you'll come back :)

I think people are generally opposed to the "idea" of Kurt Gosselin, than anything in specific. It's like Conservatives paying lip service to Reagon on a campaign; just one of those things to have to do to maintain "credibility".

Absolutely. I mean, we have to accept that MOST of Disney's most popular movies are adaptations of Western European stories and legends. Even Aladdin is based on a European account of the Arabian Nights. So the whole white thing is kind of understandable in that lens.
