I'm jealous. I wish I had the attention span, and follow through to plant a garden. Also, can you tell me why everyone plants gardens in those wood boxes these days? I see them everywhere now. When we had gardens growing up we just planted them in the ground.

There are several different... methods, for making yogurt. Some folks prefer one over the other, so I would hesitate to give you a recommendation. However, SMH's PITA apparently has a recipe that is nothing if not prolific. You might have to ask her to get it for you.

I absolutely love the IDEA of raising our own food, and living off of the land. The only problem being that I'd starve. Also, I have a short attention span. Also, ... what was this post about again? Oh right, self sufficiency. I can brew beer. And make my own yogurt. I feel like I should get badges for that.

MMmmmm.... tasty plastic. I'm with Fiona. How is a dog supposed to say no to that? That's like leaving an open bag of Oreo's on the kitchen counter. I once caught Maggie eating my wife's razor. Thank god I walked into the bathroom, before she could swallow it. Dogs are just so lovable and stupid. Kinda like husbands.

Frankenmuth! Never been, but this kind of place is right up the old 20 Prospect clan's alley. We're a little more than half German on both sides, so bratwurst, schnitzel, and beer are in our DNA. No creepy elves, or dolls though. My Mom likes the creepy dolls. Here's what's funny. I never thought of our house as "German Style" growing up, but it was always cluttered with knick knacks, dolls, teacups, hummel figurines, clocks, beer steins, and assorted crap sitting on doilies. So is my inlaws', so was my grandma's, and just about every other kid I knew with a German last name. Then about 10 years ago I was in Germany on business and we stayed in a small hotel in the middle of nowhere. It was full of the same crap as my Mom's. In fact, the room where they served breakfast was full of clocks and doilyies, with lace curtains on the windows. Apparently, this is how redneck German White trash all over the world decorate. I felt so at home! I wanted to give the fat lady with the mustache behind the desk a big hug and kiss! But I'm still not decorating MY house that way.

Amish friendship bread? What devilry is this? It's like an organic chain letter. I don't think I could handle that level of commitment without upping my dosage of antidepressants. Do they also have Amish Antidepressants? How come they don't share the recipe for that? F*ckin Amish.
