tylerstanton.com : Arbitrary Thoughts & Fantasy Football

Speaking of fantasy football... Please tell me you have seen The League. Another one of those shows you hate to admit that you love. :) I have no reasons to give you to pick me for your team except for the fact that after watching this show, I am obsessed with finding a group to join this year. It looks like so much fun!

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : Setting Physical Boundaries in Dating Relationships

This post is just so incredibly awkward to read! But funny, nonetheless. I went to a small bible college and we had rule after rule after rule about physical boundaries in relationships. It was pretty lame.

Stuff Christians Like - Jon Acuff : The guy who says you are rich globally.

I love the global rich list! It's a stark reminder to me that there are people in much greater need all over the world, and I don't think that's ever a bad thing to be reminded of. On the flip side of that, I am a believer in the saying, "...it's all relative," and I think that's important here, and I think that's what Bryan A. was pointing out in his first post. I am grateful to live in a country where the poverty line is not $1.25/day! Does it mean that people aren't still struggling financially in a bad way here? Nope. It's all relative. Bottom line...we are a rich country comparatively, and I think Jesus is happy when we choose to take care of others, WITHOUT being guilted into it.

I see a lot of responses here about "caring for the poor." This is the job of the church. Not the government. The Bible clearly defines that. The church has done a huge disservice in this area and needs to step up and teach people what it means to care for each other. Our government was not formed for this reason, and the more we allow them to take these things on, the closer we DO get to socialism. Time to do what Jesus called us to do!

The Church of No People : Let\'s Agree to Disagree

Wow. That's a lot to think about. A lot. I'd like to say that just knowing my pastor loves Jesus is enough, but I just don't think it is. I mean, that would be WAY easier. But I believe there are several things in the Bible that are stated black and white, and if I can't agree with a pastor based on those things, it become a theological issue that I probably don't want to submit myself under. Politics? I'd be super irritated, but I wouldn't feel justified in leaving over something like that unless it became an issue of pushing one way or the other on the congregation.
