These are gold. I love #7 - it's the open window that reminds us what leadership is all about.

One thing I advocate is the fact that "servant leadership" is not an oxymoron, as many tend to believe. Some equate leadership with dictatorship. It's not. If anything, it's like using two complimentary words in a single phrase. If I'm leading, I'm serving. I keep that front and center in my day-to-day.

Thank you Ron. You ought to start a Mythbusters series. I knew of this myth, and I'm glad I'm now reinforced to refute it so well, but oh-so-tactfully, only if the opp lends itself.

Hi Ron. This is super practical -as it should be. Love how intentional you are about keeping this area of your life safe. It inspires me, and hope it inspires others.

My wife taught me about the "workout with other women" thing. Glad to see that on your list.

And certainly, love for my baby boy who's on the way is certainly a great keep-me-from-wrongdoing!

Thanks for opening up to us Ron! This was a phenomenal post.

So, I think (and feel (and identify)) as an introvert. And my wife has a hard time believing me. More so before than now, since we're 3+ years into our marriage, but still. But maybe I'm in the middle of this intro-extro VERT Spectrum. Is there even such a thing? Would love hear your thoughts on how to self-evaluate.

And RE has a series of blog posts about blogging, bloggers and blog reading (judging not only from this post, but from the links to related posts)... right on!

Thanks Ron.

I personally thrive on chaos! I see these greatly delineate a leader's motivations yet I still see commonalities between the bunch.

It's funny, at work, I'm a manager that gets to lead on occasion (I'm always figuring out ways to improve upon things and if there's a can of worms, I'm not afraid to open it). I guess that's the ground work everyone must go through before leading for a living. This is where reading your blog is inspiring because it doesn't let me go stale, it challenges me and prepares me for some bigger leadership roles in the future.

Thanks for sharing.

Raw and honest. I like it.

I read it line by line, carefully absorbing the truth it speaks. After all, the Bible does remind us that if we think we are standing strong, be careful not to fall (1 Cor 10:12).

This is good for all of us, pastors and more, affair history or not.

Thanks for sharing it, Ron.

Thanks for this Ron. I feel these are true items not only of ministry but definitely beyond into everyone's everyday work life. The item that resonates with me the most is keeping the vision in front at all times. With distractions aplenty, it's so easy to lose sight of why we do what we do. It certainly challenges me to think I'm after more than a paycheck or just to get by and survive. I think I should not be working -for-, but rather working +towards+.

Also, would love to know more about how to best find one's rhythm. I'll be on the lookout for a future blog post if you ever go that route.

Couple of days late but meant to add to the list ... How about the person you stumbled upon on the web, whom you've never met in person, that happens to be a pastor with a blog, and that God uses regularly to encourage you to lead your life: marriage, ministry/work and family?

Thank YOU Ron!
