I'm in the middle. Too much of one will send me in the direction of the other. Believe it or not, I actually started my site after slogging through a whole bunch of serious tomes!

I think all literature is educational to some degree, and I'll get something valuable out of both a light and fluffy cozy mystery and a dense and sprawling work of Literature (big L intended). :)

I've only heard wonderful things about this book, and about Morton's work in general. From your review, it sounds like this is one to check out--I love a good literary mystery!

This sounds like a fascinating series, but you're right that near-future SF is hard to write in that it can date very quickly. It sounds like the author's done a good job, though!
