In our area the kids and parents wouldn't care what you put in their bags and buckets as long as it included something fattening and sugary.

I'm a Halloween Scrooge and wish parents would just let their kids dress up and have a party with treats and games at a home, church, community center, etc. for them instead of going door to door begging for crap food they can get anytime and in any amount on a daily basis nowadays. Why force people to participate when they don't want to or aren't feeling well? People like me and my husband have orthopedic problems we are recovering from which make it difficult to get up and down the foyer stairs to the door. But if you don't answer and there are cars in the driveway you may just get your house egged like we have had done a couple of times when we weren't able to be home on candy beggar night.

Our village did keep the date on Sunday for about four hours. And our town usually doesn't allow door-to-door solicitation for other reasons, so wish they would do away with this one, too.

Atheist Oasis: A Rational Refuge is a group blog formerly known as God is for Suckers! For awhile now we have discussed changing the name of the site to something that was less offensive to visitors who may be questioning their faith and wanting to have honest dialogue with us non-believers. With more and more people able to access our site via the many search engines and now Twitter, we also wanted a name that would be taken more seriously.

God is for Suckers! had often been called by some of our regulars as an “oasis”, a place where we could come together with fellow atheists and agnostics to discuss politics, separation of church and state, the attempts by the religious to force their superstitious beliefs into our secular government, or to simply discuss how experiences with religious family members, friends and co-workers have affected our lives in general.

We continue the lively discussions at Atheist Oasis, with our old GifSter friends, and hope to draw in new readers and commenters, as well.
