Hi Mark, I know you've done shows with subtitles before, so here is my suggestion. The Untamed. It is a live action Chinese high fantasy, costume drama series currently on Netflix. The story is complete, with 50 eps. It is based on a BL web novel and I think you would really enjoy it.

Word of caution for FFXIV, with the Stormblood expansion having just been released, there is a lot of traffic on the servers, Plus some assholes are doing a massive DDOS attack randomly hitting different servers. So connecting in is hit or miss.

You should hang out for one of the Besieged fights in Aht Urghan, They are completely insane. assuming they still happen. All these monsters attacking the city at once to get the artifact. If all the generals fall, the server loses the fight and then the next event is hunting down the artifact to get it back. My server, Lakshmi, didn't lose a single Besieged for nearly a year. Each time the mods got more intense. Eventually, all the servers lost, but it was fun keeping the treasure. Piles of dead players all over the place at the end.
