(I am one of those people), and he did it on his own property. Bottom line is everyone needs a positive outlet for their emotions or they wind up taking it out on people, sometimes physically, like Chris has done multiple times. If Chris wants redemption he has to fix himself first. I know how crucial art therapy can be to someone's recovery, because it takes one to know one. I have a family member with a really big rage problem, and going fishing is their form of therapy, and they haven't even been doing it regularly that long, and it's already working. Besides, it could be worse. When I was at the Seattle Zoo checking out those howler monkeys or whatever they're called, one person said you can hear them from a mile away. IMO that's WAY more annoying.

I've been in a similar situation: in a relationship where the guy loves to verbally and emotionally abuse you, he apologizes, things cool down, blahblahblah lather, rise, repeat. He bullies you into never telling anyone the truth because his reputation is everything since he only cares about himself. Then the day comes when he lays his hands on you, and even though you have a fracture in your skull from the head butt he gave you during the fight, he still insists he's not that bad of a guy andThe o that he has rights to see his kid. You finally reach your limit and go to the police for an OOP. You go to court where the OOP is dropped but the judge is nice enough to you that he warns him that when someone says it's over, it's over. The obsessive calling texting emailing peters out. You then get full residential and physical custody of your child with him, no more threats of him coming and taking your daughter. I commend Dina for coming out as a domestic violence survivor, but I'm sorry, the reason why Lindsey is so messed up is because of her parents. BOTH of them, living vicariously through her.

I have beef when it comes to diagnostics when it concerns "mental illness". I don't believe Autism a mental illness. The term "normal" is as transient as it's ever been before. It's not about mental illness being something to be ashamed about and autism isn't. I don't believe in mental "illness" period, actually. I don't believe in the term "abnormal psychology" anymore. I believe that we are all different and it isn't right to compartmentalize people like that because we live in a society that as long as you have a label for what's "wrong" with you, THEN they can accept you. Bottom line, we are just all wired differently. I mean, I have schitzoeffective disorder and I don't consider myself to be "mentally ill". Hell, some people think being gay is a mental illness. It wasn't that long ago when there was a concept of a "nuclear family" being shoved down our throats. The ideal family was white, with heterosexual parents and heterosexual children, they were Christian, they saved themselves until marriage, they dressed a certain way, hung out with the "right crowd", never did illegal drugs but gobbled down prescriptive medication the same way we do now. Keep in mind I am not going to hold anything back. Please note that I am not suggesting that people who seriously hurt themselves or others or who have suicidal/homicidal thoughts should not receive treatment because I don't believe in "mental illness". My teacher for my pharmacy tech certification classes put it best: "Everyone has the right to be free of pain."

This is a clip of a comment I wrote on the blog JDT: I developed schizoaffective disorder after I had my kid. Most women get postpartum depression but I got this. I cannot have anymore kids because I would have to go off my meds. If I were to go off them, I wouldn't be able to sleep. The rule is that you turn psychotic after a week of no sleep; I turn after two nights in a row. The really good thing about it that I forced to remind myself when I was in the hospital a few times, is that when I had gone completely catatonic the first time, I still had the presence of mind to go to my Dad and tell him something was very very wrong. No one can ever shame me for having this, and there's not one person out there who is too scared to talk about it that I wouldn't help as best I could by talking candidly about my experience so that they know they are not alone. The one thing I have to drive home is TAKE YOUR MEDS. If you cannot afford them, tell your doctor. Contact the company who makes the meds and see if they will give them to you for free. I am on SSI because I can't work a job because of my condition. I get health benefits and pretty much don't have to pay for anything. For me it took about three years to find the right combo of meds. They changed everything and now I am high functioning. Also, my daugher is Autistic. Autism is NOT a mental illness. It is a learning and social interaction difference. You can be Autistic and have depression/anxiety/BPD/borderline personality disorder/schizophrenia or be a sociopath at the same time.

I'm sorry about your son. I don't know what I would do if my daughter acted like that when she got older. I have the same disorder, only when I'm not medicated and I get insomnia I go bezerk and start self-harming and hallucinating. It took two years of being in and out of hospitals for me to get the right combo of drugs, which I have been on for almost a year, I think.
