Thanks Abby! All the best to you too... yeah I guess it's a freedom you kind of have to learn to - if not enjoy - then at least get used to, otherwise you will drive yourself crazy... i did include a link to online college courses that didn't work for some reason, but if you google 725 college courses there's a great lot of things there for free that have kept me busy through times apart...

Ah yeah, the visa pain... I think we should have just a few months left but it has been a long year. A friend of mine has made a similar move and he is living in St. Louis now and is having a blast! So he's like the lighthouse at the minute!

Ah congratulations! It's great to hear that kind of success story! I like the sentiment of you not arguing, no games is key!

All the best to you, it can be a strain but it's an adventure at the end of the day... here's to all that take the chance!

Ahh thanks for the well wishing! I think I know what you mean about the reality kicking in... but I'm really looking forward to that... i miss the simple things - sharing a meal, going to the cinema or out for a few drinks... I guess time apart means that you can appreciate the everyday things even more! Would love to write up a progress report down the line! :) Have a good one!

Great post Kristina! I'm intrigued as to the future of film. I've just been writing about a new form of reality TV which is going to be comprised of 24/7 youtube videos, tweets and instagram photos as opposed to the usual 30 - 60 minute TV programme times. I wonder how technology will affect film in the future and, more importantly, how we connect through the medium...

I can see a big change coming, but I am 100% with you and your argument. The cinema can't become elitist. Perhaps with the advent of 'Fork and Screen' we will see a surge of the opposite also - the kind of small time old school cinemas that have been shutting down like crazy the last decade or so...

Although it is pretty saturated with yoga vids, a Youtube profile with yoga practices you can do at home might help you stay connected... you could also maybe offer a sign up incentive for your blog's newsletter - a video tutorial series? a free starter session at your class? Maybe a spotify playlist of relaxation music/inspirational speeches that your students can access through the week?

Great post, I always feel like there's a time and place for melancholy feelings - a state to reflect, re-asses... music is a great soother. As the comment above suggests - it's about empathy. We all go through these times, and one of the reasons I love this site so much is because people aren't afraid to put themselves out there. Empathy lifts and you come out all the better at the end...
