I agree with you Victor
and thank you for reminding me that Brent has been controlled for the past 20 years by Labour.
The deprivation bears painful witness to that fact every day.
I have lived in Brent for 50 years and it breaks my heart to see that little has changed or been improved.
All we get from the council is finger pointing and putting the blame on the Tory-led cuts.
I acknowledge that the cuts have caused serious problems for the council
but I have to say that I realize that Labour shares part of the blame for the neglect.
Its so unfair Victor.
The impression most 'poor people in Brent' have of the Tories is that they don't care about them
and the Labour council use that to their advantage.
But even if the current government is being tight-fisted
the fact is Labour is even meaner in my opinion.
It's so unfair for the Tories and Labour to keep playing the poor people in Brent.
I am so tired of it all and I long for a positive and lasting change.
But I can't see that coming in my lifetime Victor.
We in Brent are tired of being in want.

I agree with the part about ships and Airplanes
but in the case of Grenfell that was avoidable in my opinion.
The fact that the Tory government sat on their hands after the Lakanal House fire claimed seven lives
suggests to me that no lessons were learned and so it begs the question in my mind
'where is the basis for confidence in the government'?

What I meant is that I have no faith in politics or democracy
and that is because British democracy hasn't produced much to convince me to support it with my vote.
My point about ants and bees was intended to help the public look down and notice how tiny insects manage to govern themselves and make their nests and live in harmony.
Whereas proud humans have been using democracy for longer than we have been alive and yet life under democratic rule is so chaotic.
Is it that hard to produce a society that functions reasonably well and in which all British citizens have access to the basic necessities of life?
How can it be that a growing number of our fellow citizens are in want despite all the assurances from the current government?
Does that not suggest that the Tory government is failing the people they were elected to serve?
Why should I give my vote and support to a government that is not fit for purpose while mere ants and bees
provide for themselves without fail?

I live in Brent
and I wish that the local authority would spend taxpayers money to repair the numerous pothole-riddled roads and broken uneven pavements
but guess what?
The 'Tory government' austerity measures have forced them to neglect those things.
Little wonder why the council is run by Labour.
I tell you in all honesty that when you live in Brent or certain parts of it that are poor
you become accustomed to wanting and frustration and neglect.
All we get from the council is poor quality in just about everything that they do.
It is therefore no surprise that Brent was recently hailed as the number one Borough in London in which a large number of the residents are unhappy.(me included)
That's what happens when central and local government turn off the money tap as standard.

Ross,
Grenfell went up in flames because the 'Tory-led council wanted to' save money' and the current' Tory government' sat on their hands and 'did nothing' to implement the recommendations after the Lakanal House fire.
Does that really really reflect a council that had 'good intentions'?
I don't think so.

I survived 13 years of torment while living in a council flat which was run down and neglected by a Tory led council.
I'll never forget that experience because it opened my eyes wide to the fact that unless one lives in a Borough in which people are wealthy
it is almost certain that the borough will be neglected by the government of the day and the council.
Grenfell Tower will forever serve as a classic example of that fact.

I still believe that mere ants and bees put MP's of all persuasions to shame when it comes to self-governing.
I am also convinced that when it comes to self-governing
humans are out of their depth.
If you all want to keep worshipping at the feet of the Tory government
go ahead...I am heading for the exit.

I guess I am supposed to 'toe the line' and only write what the disciples of the Tory government want to read.
