Susan, if you want people to consider using your services you should fully disclose the company, physical address, set up website, etc. They need to be able to verify your existence as a legitimate business and credibility. Otherwise this propagates the image of shady business in Africa. We don't advise people contact those who are not willing to do this.

The PACCI is an African continental body. The Charlotte Africa Initiative is working with them directly. At this point, we are not aware of them planning branches for the US. You would need to come to the conference or travel with us to another meeting being held in South Africa in July.

eric, I am not sure of your question actually. The best source of information though is the local government agency that registers companies - http://www.moti.gov.gh/. You can also check the most current data on registering a business in ghana from doingbusiness.org as that is the source of this document.

Afribiz : Eritrea: Economy Overview 2011

There is always at least two sides to economies formal and informal. The global mechanisms for measuring economy only focus on the formal, institutional structures as a sign of economic growth. This is not a political statement, but what is measured. There have been discussions for years about other appropriate methods for measuring economic growth that are more inclusive and holistic but to date nothing has come forward to the mainstream. So, therefore you are correct that any attempt to measure the vibrancy of an economy solely on these measures will fall short. And if you want people to view Eritrea in a different light then you, as a people, will need to share stories of successes, even amongst challenges, to the world. With the internet, you can do this for yourself . You do not need others to do it for you. You will never get far telling others what they should do, you must show them the path. I wish you success in this endeavor. Lauri, Editor-in-Chief

Afribiz : Nigeria Stock Market Commentary - Week Ending January 13, 2012

I have personally reviewed this piece after your comment since it is not one of our own. There is no language that suggests that the World Bank or the IMF forced Nigeria to make this decision. The word "prod" means stir to action, so the analysis does not conclude that either institution forced Nigeria to make this decision. In fact, Nigeria instituting a no 'gay' marriage bill recently, that is not popular in Western countries, demonstrates that Nigeria can make its own decisions. However, note that the World Bank, and IMF, have likely been influencing developing countries over the years in this direction for the very reason you cite - only a few (the status quo or wealthy) benefit from it. You can check out a World Bank document done in 2006 to this effect - http://rru.worldbank.org/documents/publicpolicyjo....
