We lease our cars, and have for years. The one time we bought a car for our son, it was totaled while parked by a driver who was texting. The insurance was not enough to replace the car, even used, so we ended up leasing him another car. I like the in and out aspect of leasing - the cars never get old enough to be a problem.

I can't imagine having 17 credit cards - how stressful that must have been! So glad to hear they have moved past all of that.

There were weeks that would pass by when my kids were small when it would seem like I wasn't even fully conscious! Life sucks the life out of us!

Some moments I'd rather not embrace, but observe from a distance - but I agree that only by being present can anything make any sense.

I'm a few years ahead of you on the timeline of parenting, with a 22 year old son and 24 year old daughter - and what I can promise is that all of the love and attention you've given them will be returned to you when they are adults. The mother (and son) relationship evolves constantly, and then suddenly they are independent and strong and there to give back to you. It's quite amazing.

I like your word. I didn't choose a word for myself this year - nor have I ever - but if something were to occur to me I would write it down and carry it everywhere. And yay to looking (and feeling) pretty!

When I'm writing everything gets shut down. It's hard for me to even write when people are in the house!
