You are an amazing person, who resonates kindness, that you took the time to leave comments on my blog and FB page during our recent bereavement while you are undergoing your own personal difficulties is testament to that, thank you. xxx

As my kids are now teenagers I'm acutely aware of how quickly time is passing. We do need to remember to cherish every moment.

The Dugong, the walrus-like creature of the sea, would be fun to eyeball, 'cause he looks like a wise old fella

Wow, that fire is so close. What a difficult time for everyone. Don't those firies and pilots do an amazing job? So glad to hear that you and your family are OK.

Well done. I too tried to make s'mores and it wasn't overly successful! Just can't get the right type of biscuit. But this looks like a nice take on the topic!

Love the sound of this course. I started to blog as an attempt to reconnect with my long-ignored dream of writing. It remains a challenging experience to put myself first and work on my own priorities when the needs of my children and husband always seem to be in competition! Even with teenage children you are still pulled in multiple directions and it would be great to learn a way to reconnect with me and my own needs!

A really interesting post Jane. I've been blogging for nine months. Like you, I have met some lovely people through blogging. I'm still very small so haven't experienced any negativity in comments etc. My first readers (aside from family and work colleagues) were a small number of Blogging Your Way ladies who were doing the course with me. I felt a little out of place in that course with such beautiful, artistic blogs but somehow I found a few women who liked what I was doing and became regular readers and commenters. This sustained me in the early days. From commenting on others blogs I found a couple of bloggers who I connected with and who also started commenting on my blogs.

The problem I find is because I work four days a week and I try to post five-seven days a week it is really hard to organise the time to comment on other blogs. Even if I manage to read it is sometimes difficult to formulate a decent comment and get it up in the few minutes I may have available.

I think the Australian blogosphere is changing but I think it probably needs to. I do worry about so many woman devoting so many hours to blogging without any income benefit. I understand that is not the aim for many, and a blog can be a hobby generating enjoyment, friendship and support, which is lovely. It can also be a vehicle for self-promotion to secure work/product sales etc. However, I think it is important that we do figure out a way to produce some sort of income for those who want to be able to supplement their family finances. It means there will be some experimenting and chopping and changing as that gets figured out.

I have seen a lot of generosity amongst bloggers, even those who are chasing an income, in sharing their experiences etc, which I do really appreciate as a newbie blogger.

It is sad to read in the comments here that others aren't feeling that, I imagine blogging could be an isolating experience if you don't feel supported and aren't getting responses to what you are writing. Congratulations Jane on trying to turn that around with your blogroll/down the rabbit hole series.

Good points you make. I would like to see more dad bloggers giving their perspective to the whole parenting journey. Just found your blog today.
