I was running this at 1750 before the new Chaos book made me shelve my imperial guys:

Jump pack Lib, Force Axe, Fear the dark and shield
2 Priests, 1 on foot, 1 w/jump pack and force axe
10 ASM, double melta, fist
10 ASM, double melta, fist
6 sniper scouts, heavy bolter, camo cloaks
devs, 4 missiles
devs, 4 missiles
vindicator w/HKM
Rune Priest, chooser of slain, JOTWW, lightning
10 GH, double plasma, standard, force axe
10 GH, double plasam, standard, force axe

BA would probably be all around much better served by IG allies, but this let me use figs I have. Shielded FNP ASM in front with the GH advancing behind while the scouts/devs with FNP provided fire support from the rear. The vindicator is personal preference as a 36 inch threat radius str10/ap2 pie plate is just a treat.

It should be noted that Helldrakes are pretty much auto win against this list though :'(

the sternguard look is what i would be aiming for...vehicle stormbolters are plentiful, sternguard bits arent :D

i think that the 2 bolt pistol route has promise, but right now it looks like, well, 2 bolt pistols glued together. maybe instead of the 2 magazines on the bolt pistols use one of the box mags from the vehicle storm bolter?

lol. if i wanted to play 2nd, i would. i dont. 2nd is a mess. what i want is more complexity akin to 2nd, a cleaned up 2nd if you will. this rulesset appears to give that.

i am all for an overhaul of this magnitude. the game has been languishing in mediocrity since 3rd... for a rogue trader veteran like myself, this hearkens back to the good old days of 2nd ed with a new penny shine on them.

my take is that it will make in game decisions and possibilities more important. right now 40k is largely an excercise in list building/application of said list/target prioritization. for the most part, once you have committed yourself after deploying, the game is going to play out by and large how you think it will. with more movement options, you will have more opportunities to react in game.

i jokingly told my friends that flamers were gonna be the new hotness (pardon the pun) in 6th, i didnt actually believe it though. fwOOOOSSSHHH

are those barrels drilled out or just painted black? cuz if theyre not drilled, that is just criminal to an otherwise fantastic paint job
