It's so, so hard to get tone right! And I always have to fight against the part of me that's saying "oh, you're being meeeeeean, stop being high-maintenance" which is such complete and utter fucking garbage!!! But it's in there /so deep/ that I should always give a guy the benefit of the doubt that it's REALLY hard to root out. Setting clear boundaries and standing up for what you want is a good, responsible, adult thing to do, and good people will see it and respect it. (At least, that's what i have to keep repeating over and over to myself.)
