Very effective, Ernest -'infinite' speaks volumes.

I have this 'illness-ku' here on tinywords from 31st July 2017, although it's perhaps a little more hopeful...

Thanks to the tinywords editorial team for continuing to host such a great venue for short form poetry - and well done to Carole and Ellen, whose work always inspires!

I like how the shape of the dark branches across the light of the moon negatively echo the shapes in light made by the fireworks as they explode against the night sky.

I love how this begins with New Year's 'dawn' because it suggests hope for the coming year. The cranberries are left over from Christmas and of course the word 'mistle' of the thrush's name calls to mind 'mistletoe' which is also associated with the festive season. There's definitely a 'ring out the old, ring in the new' vibe going on in this one, Helen. Very effective.

A quietly powerful poem, Roberta. Thanks for sharing.

'doing life' could be read as planning out one's life, medical/dental check ups etc or it could be a prisoner in a cell staring at a calendar that will remain filled with nothing. Clever!

Ha - I love it! There is almost a plea from the smoker to the cigarette to hold on another few seconds until he (or she!) finishes the line and then the cigarette will be tapped and its ash deposited in the correct place...but just not at this minute! Great tension in this.
