My husband didn't have a ring when he proposed and we waited several weeks before telling anyone....and we've been married almost 25 years. So whatever is best for the both of you is what you should do. Remember, the marriage is more important than the wedding. Go with what you want and don't feel guilty about not following the books.

I recommended this to my book group and our discussion is tonight. I loved it; one person disliked it so much she didn't get to the half way point (where it gets so much better). I hope the others liked it and that we have a great discussion.

Anyone who tackles Ulysses is a hero in my book. When you read Gatsby, do some research on the original cover art http://www.unc.edu/~wellons/personal/books/gatsby... It may be the only time an author rewrote a section of his book to make the cover art important. (Yes, the art was done before the book was completed.)

I just discovered your blog and have added it to my Reader. Your review of Till We Have Faces made me put it on hold at the library. Looking forward to many more good reviews.

I didn't read Joan Didion's early stuff until I read "A Year of Magical Thinking" which I loved. I requested a library copy of "Blue Nights" as soon as it became available and didn't like it as much, but I see your point about the fragmentation of memories. I wish I had read her earlier work at the time it was published.
