Glad you read something good. I am in the worst reading slump ever!

Wonderful news about both your face to face book club and your continued online conversations with bookish folk. My blog has suffered even more than my reading from this difficult year, and my reading suffered a lot! However....good to know when I am ready to pick it all up again, there are still some good bookish blogs and people to connect to. Miss your blog, for sure.

Good to see you back! I've been wondering....Not that I've blogged much, either...

Haven't read or seen the book/show in question...but I'm glad to see pop your head up for a moment here. I've missed the Friday chats a lot.

Interesting review, perhaps one of the best I've read. That said, I still haven't placed these books on my TBR list. I know it goes against the trend, but as you should know by now, that bothers me not at all! Perhaps in some future time I will feel a need to read these...just not now.

Wow...there are so many comments already that I will admit to not having read all of them before leaving my own comment. 1) blogging is a good thing the way you do it. There can be bad ways, which might turn a company off, but this isn't that blog! 2) I would not feel that my blog had anything at all to do with a job search, as in it never even crossed my mind, so I would continue to blog as normal while job hunting. I don't know that I would talk about the process much on my blog, for two reasons; I'm pretty 'personal', as in I don't share a lot of personal stuff to the public, and secondly, I don't think I need perspective employers to know too much about who I'm applying to, or what I think about various businesses. What you've posted about job hunting is totally cool.

Part 2
There is a Borders in the next town over which I enjoy going to and would miss a lot if it closed up. Around here, it is considered a great 'date' spot. Books, music, (sometimes live) hot drinks, magazines, videos,....what's not to love?
All that being said, I am a fan of indepandant bookstores. Realistically, however, I fear their day may be over. Life is to costly to afford books at the prices they have to charge, and I don't see how such a store can compete in this era of online shopping and e-readers.
Btw, I LOVE libraries, and I worry far more about the closure of libraries across the country than the bookstores. That's just my take, because here, so many NEED the library for so many reasons.

I AM a library user and a bargain hunter! When it comes to books I will use any method available to get what I want, but I won't pay the big bucks if I can avoid it, and I usually can. My town doesn't have a bookstore any more. It closed about 2-3 yrs ago, which was a little sad, but didn't really bother me as I refused to shop there since they only carried "politically correct" books and refused to sell books with the opposing viewpoint. I buy used from Amazon, shop at www.bookcloseouts.com, utilize my local used-book store occasionally, and most recently, get a lot of free, or very cheap books for my Kindle.

Funny you mention that. That was essentially what the one 'book club" I was in years ago was....Currently, I am more apt to be discussing books with my knitting buddies at Knit Night. Several of us are also Readers.

Great questions. I am not currently in a book club, nor have I been in one for a very long time. Why? Um...partly scheduling, partly intimidation. What if I don't like the books they choose? Or, What if they don't like me, or think I'm stupid, or...I keep thinking of joing the Book Club at the local library. Because I already know som eof the people it feels less intimidating. I DO like to read and chat about reading with others...and a themed club could be fun, as long as the theme isn't too narrow. I know I'd like a live group better than an online one since I already know that I tend to be a 'lurker' in the Shelfari groups I'm in....
