InvestorPlace : Kellogg Company (K) Goes to War With Breitbart. When Will CEOs Learn?

Why would companies be this political and stupid, to alienate half their customer base -- I think I got it! It's basically virtue signalling aimed at supporting corporate rent-seeking goals. The progressives politicize pretty much *everything* since *everything* is subject to their desire to be in control in order to deliver a more perfect society. So as the progressives of both parties have been able to grow the size and power of the State to the point where it can heavily influence the economy, pick winners and losers, sucking up to those in charge of the State becomes increasingly important to the success of your business. This is a symptom of Crony Capitalism. Given that the Progressive Democrats are the de-facto party of the State today, it then makes sense that companies seeking favors and benefits from the State will start to adopt and parrot their values through PAC donations, revolving door hiring, donations to progressive causes and the like. And, virtue signalling like Kellogg's did against Brietbart is an act designed to garner political support for its rent seeking goals -- see, I share *your* values too, I am a worthy corporate friend and ally of your cause -- be good to me, reward me!

??? Really?? A generation of post-war Americans grew up watching movies about the Bataan Death March and reading about Imperial Japanese atrocities. The Empire of Japan wsa utterly crushed, their entire society was smashed and rebuilt, their cities nuked and firebombed to ash, what more do you want?

...and the Empire of Japan was utterly defeated, its cities fire-bombed and nuked to ash and rubble, its leaders (except the puppet Emperor) trialed and executed for their war crimes, and their political society completely dismantled and rebuilt along Western/US lines.
Breitbart.com : Little threat to Earth from big asteroid: NASA

I suppose this actually calls for utter panic! NASA has been shamelessly wrong about Global Warming, can't even launch a freakin' shuttle or old-fashioned rocket to maintain the $110 BILLION space station now crewless up in orbit...can't perform it's primary function as a space agency...and they make a certain sounding pronouncement about there being no asteroid danger to Earth. We're all doomed.

Breitbart.com : EU, US partners plan \'low-cost\' space launcher

Long March is man-rated -- it's what China has uses for their manned space flights. Soyuz is man-rated -- it's been used to take astronauts and cosmonauts into space for decades. The SpaceX Falcon 9 is being designed as a man-rated launch system to take crew to the International Space Station. And how solid is the "man rated" criteria, anyway? The Shuttle is "Man rated" yet has a 1.5% catastrophic failure rate -- we've lost 2 flights, 14 crew, in just 132 flights. There are some 30,000 commercial flights each day in the US. If the "Man rated" standard were applied to commercial aviation, in the US alone we'd have 450 fatal airliner crashes every day!! We need to move beyond expendable-hybrid vehicles (heck, we designed one in the 1960s like this called the X20 Dynasoar) to fully re-suable space access vehicles that can take us to airliner-type operations, safety and costs.

Nah. We already see a price point emerging for a broader space tourism industry, being set around $200,000 per ticket for a suborbital flight. To get down to that price point you'd need to put 900 people into space on your $180M/flight space craft. Not gonna happen. Btw, that VG cost of $200K/person is already 125x cheaper than a space tourism shot on a Soyuz ($25 Million IIRC), and a Soyuz launch is already cheaper than this projected space plane. As your cost of space access drops, your potential for profitable space tourism rises (and other activities). Many "adventure trips," like a trip to Antarctica, cost about $10K. Going back in time we see other adventure travel costing the same -- a trip on an early Zepplin or transoceanic flight was about that in terms of dollars. So the path forward is not this expensive system, but a different path being pioneered by Branson, Musk, Bezos and others that could drop the price of a space flight another couple of factors or order of magnitude. Then space travel and other activities will become commonplace.

LOL! Don't get all word-snippety here. This yet-to-be-built space launch system is billed as a "low cost" way " to take astronauts and scientific payloads into space." It is not. It is already more expensive than existing space launch systems, the most expensive of which is the US STS/Shuttle system. At $180M/flight there's no way in heck that it will "lead eventually to commercial projects such as orbiting hotels for space tourists." So perhaps the real headline should be "Future Unbuilt Mini-Shuttle Promises To Be More Expensive Than Existing Space Launch Systems, But Cheap Compared to The Incredibly Costly Soon-to-be-Retired Shuttle." Not as grabby, I guess, and wouldn't let ya run a cool looking image of a spaceship.

Who cares? You can fly payloads on a LongMarch for $50M, or go high-end and fly Ariane 5 for $140M. Heck, go "New Space" and fly on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket for about $50M. At $180M per flight they are projecting HIGHER costs for a FUTURE space access system than you get today from an expendable launch vehicle -- the point is, there's no point to this new slideset space vehicle.

A friend of mine saw the jet winging in on its run into the Pentagon. He lives and works in the area and saw a jet flying low, and not in the usual flight pattern for Washington International (which is controlled) and said his first thought was "Boy, that guy's off course -- he's gonna catch hell for it"...but then he said he had a sinking feeling in his stomache and a horrible "On no" realization. See, he was a WW2 veteran in the Pacific and survived Kamikaze attacks and his gut told him that he was now seeing a Kamikaze attack. The plane continued o descend and went out of view behind a hill line, and a few moments later he saw a plume of smoke billow up. I know this man to be a very honest person, a great guy, with no incentive or motive to make this up and I trust that he saw the plane that dove into the Pentagon.

Dan Sahagun for Congress : Why is immigration a laughing matter?

If you want to support Dan from the comfort of your computer, please go to the comments area of EVERY article you can find on this issue and make a comment that links back to this site! Here's one I just posted at the Washington Post: "It was pathetic. Lofgren should be ashamed and voted out of office for this and other failures in office -- head of the so-called "Ethics Committee" of a Congress wracked by scandal, a voting record of pure poison for the people in her District. Her votes have helped drive up the cost of living, drive up our tax burden, drive out businesses and increase unemployment while protecting and padding the pockets of the Unions. If you live in District 16 please vote to get rid of this life-time politician. You know she's NEVER held a real job in her life?? She went from college into politics almost 40 YEARS AGO!!! Isn't that long enough? There's a guy named Dan Sahagun running against her, first time entering politics. Interesting, he came to this country and worked as a migrant farm worker as a kid. He's not too thrilled with how Colbert and Lofgren made a mockery of the issue. http://www.dansahagun.com/"
