Ok. here's some reasonable fixes to improve the character designs, IMO

1. Give them normal colored skin (white, black, asian, doesn't matter)
2. Give them normal shoes/socks and not knee high boots (except for AppleJack. It makes sense for her to wear cowboy boots)
3. No tails please.
4. They don't ALL have to wear skirts, do they?

And there you have! Completely reasonable character designs!
