My pipe dream is: one day "health insurance" no longer exists and all the "smart people" have figured out a way to balance the budget AND ensure people aren't dying/losing everything because they can't afford access to healthcare. Actually I don't even care if they "balance the budget" - I'll aim for no more people dying or losing everything they own due to medical bills. Then they can balance the budget, that order of priorities seems more appropriate for humanity. Philly wants to tax sugar drinks (soda, iced tea, fruit punch...) at $.02 an ounce! That's a hefty sum on a 2 liter, 66 ounces x's $.02 = $1.32 in TAXES alone. My husband is all up in arms because of his lemon-tea addiction. It's seems like a sin tax-catch-22. To keep up the revenue stream you need people to STAY addicted to soda and sugar drinks.
