Great job this week, Jane. Maass and the Breakout Novel (book & workbook) were two of the first craft books I read years ago. Fantastic material that I still use.

Yay for research materials arriving. My wife orders quite a few art and history books/materials thorough the mail and every package is like the arrival of a birthday gift.

Have a fantastic week :)

I'm not sure one can ever please the diehard fans. Galaxy Quest comes to mind where there are a group of super fans that have the full schematics to an imaginary ship. One thought on this is rather then letting the super fans roam and test the site, perhaps poll them for things that they would like to see done. This way the fans get to participate, an idea list is generated for future use and items that can't be done on the site can be addressed and put on the wish list. This, too me at least, would be a wiser way to keep fans happy while remaining realistic.

Great post, Jami :)
Susan, thanks for having Jami in, fantastic site you have here!

Nothing against penguins but I am totally going with Polar Bears. One day we will saddle and ride them across the Arctic and give them cute names like Bill and Fluffy. I kid you not :)

If we aren't in the same district (bizarre people from the Midwest), my dear Witkins, then no first aid for you :)

Jess, I can totally see you stalking through the woods hunting the other kids with a bow and arrow. First aid kit? *grins*

I'm so glad you were able to recover your charm, wit and brilliance while on vacation. I can see the newly recharged Jess and it is a wonderful vision. I'm also glad we are on the same side.

Great post and analogy :)

A few months ago, when I was just a shadow on the net I was lucky enough to find Kristen's blog. And couldn't stop reading it. Her advice has been like a guiding light through the strange dark mists of Twitter and blogging and honestly, back in the early days I wouldn't have posted here.

What I have learned, the golden point, is that if we are building a social media platform in order to attract readers to one day want to buy our books than everything we do in this sphere has to point back to us in a meaningful way. We are the brand.

Great post Roni, teachable is the only way to be :)

My favorite movie isn't about a single writer but a group of them, The Dead Poets Society. A group of young and aspiring writers seeking to find their voice against the roaring din of a world that doesn't want to hear or recognize them. The very ground we as writers get to stand on anytime we don't stay on the "safe road", and who wants to stay there :)
