From the Captain Awkward: "Answer: Women are people, and we can’t be hacked."
I almost audibly applauded (at my desk at work). YES.

SO EXCITED. I'll be checking every day for updates bc I really want one and will be very sad if they are sold out before I get one

A 5-year-old girl anachronism who loves Journey, Bon Jovi, and the Spice Girls... a 15-year-old who was super obsessed with Hall and Oates, and was disappointed when she saw them in concert because they were old... her 16?-year-old brother who asked for a Thelonius Monk CD when he was 6...

I know some weird kids.

Thank you. I looked at the page and they are actually linking to the GoFundMe and recommending donating to there to support the survivors and the families of the victims. What I think I will do is donate half of what I can to the GoFundMe and the other half to the Zebra Coalition directly. I'm honestly still so confused about everything else but this, at least, seems clear.

Thank you. This is helpful. I didn't know about Guidestar: I'll check it out when considering donations.

(I know what you mean re: feeling sad and powerless... that's exactly how I'm feeling. I also know that donating money will make me feel good and like I did something to help, but I have some fears about assuaging my personal feels without actually doing any good through this action- or, worse, unwittingly contributing to the problems. Basically I've come to look at absolutely everything with suspicion/paranoia, which to a point is good, but not to the level where it generally paralyzes me from taking ANY action.)

Thank you! I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to donate money to OneBlood, but so far am only coming up with ways to donate blood (which I can't, for many reasons). If anyone can link me to this let me know- in the meantime I'm searching.

Would you mind telling me why? Sorry if this is a very clueless question. But I still don't know why this gofundme is bad. Are all gofundme's bad? In what ways?

(This is why I freak out about donating money to causes I care about. There are so many places that will take my money and I have no idea how to figure out which ones are good and which aren't.)

What about the Red Cross? Someone suggested donating there because they likely would need the money to organize local blood donations? (If anyone can give me a link to an organization they can vouch for as legitimately helping, and that will take my money, I would really appreciate it because I don't feel at all qualified to figure this out on my own...)

Does anybody know the best way to donate to the victims in Orlando? I want to but have a lot of anxiety about sending well-meant donations to the wrong place and it not actually helping anyone... Is the gofundme (https://www.gofundme.com/pulsevictimsfund) the best place to donate?
