Thank you Nicole, Nikki, & Mallory for making this the best place on the internet, the only place that catered exactly to my Henry VIII/Agatha Christie/politics/silliness needs while having comments that SHOULD be read and not avoided. I will forever be grateful.

Nicole, just wanted to say I always appreciate your soccer links as I'm one of the Toasties who is a full-on fanatic. And I wanted to bring to your/everyone who's into soccer attention that there is a new all women writers/artists soccer site: http://www.unusualefforts.com/
They are great & they just launched & I'm super excited about it.

Hello fellow Rookie!
As soon as I read the question I was like 'oh I know this from both The Toast & all my Canadian friends on Twitter" and was quite pleased with myself.
And while I enjoy LL, I find the defense sooooo hard. Ugh.

Yup, me too. I tweeted her back that I have been harassed in UES, UWS, Midtown, East Village/NYU..... pretty much any of her "nice" neighborhoods. She can fuck right off.

This made me beyond angry yesterday & I listed off all the "nice" areas I've been harassed in nyc as well as saying some of the same things as the lovely Roxanne (below) as well as tweeting an example to JCO that just that morning a perfectly "nice" white guy in Midtown took a picture of me with his camera phone!!!! #banallmen

Ahhh I have never seen that list & I needed it.
I currently have a crush on a guy at work who is known to my friends as IWC (Inappropriate Work Crush) but it is definitely a Mutual crush and probably Attainable (he unabashedly checks me out & flirts with me) except for the fact that I think we both know how horribly wrong those things can go (his office is literally feet from my desk) so neither of us will do anything about it.
It's both extremely frustrating & oddly thrilling at the same time. And I fully admit to checking my lippie much more frequently that I have ever at work because of him.
That said, we work in different depts & luckily there are no weird work dynamics that would ever come up. I can't even imagine how terrible it'd be if we were coworkers or manager/employee.

Yes to family trees in bot fiction & non-fiction! Except I'm always tempted to rip out the pages so they can be next to me while I read rather than deal with the endless flipping back & forth.

Yup to the footnotes in Good Omen/Pratchett & Jonathan Strange for fiction, Mary Roach & Sam Kean for non-fiction. Loved all of those & enjoyed the books more for the footnotes.
