All Facebook : App Shows Text Only Version Of Facebook -- But Why Would You Want To Do That?

I'd be careful - if you're using secure browsing, and you go to their Facebook page in Firefox, you get a security certificate warning. Apparently, the cert for textonly.in is self-signed. Probably harmless, but something to keep in mind when you're trusting your feed to them. :)

All Facebook : Find Out Who Facebook Thinks You’re Searching For

It's more than just friends -- it looks like a friends-of-friends list. I have 183 friends -- and 745 names on the Facebook Friends script report. I'm actually looking over the list to see if there are potential new FB friends on it... :)

http://fangsbites.com/ : ESPN Unveils Name of Captain Blowhard's New Site and Roster of Writers

I won't. If Simmons is comparing himself, or his misfit band of oddball writers, to Grantland Rice, he's in desperate need of ego-reduction surgery. I like Simmons as a snarky sportswriter (even though he can be a blowhard). I don't know if I want to read Simmons' take on issues outside sports, nor do I necessarily need a website born in his image. That said, I'll probably check it out. And I can't wait for FJM or KSK to take Grantland.com apart, piece by piece...

Guyism : VIDEO: Trust me, you WILL spend the next 7 minutes watching Family Feud for SNES

It looks like the parser simply looks for the letters in correct order, regardless of what's between them... so "i BAthed KEanu Reeves" becomes BAKER. It must've taken quite a few games to get all of the right answers, and time to construct the longer joke answers. Points for creativity, if not for time management... :)

Guyism : Aly Michalka is going to be a superstar

Hellcats is a CW television series. It airs Wednesday nights at 8 e/p. And while Aly Michalka is hot, she's (1) extremely Christian and (2) a terrible actress. Neither of which will stop her from a Hollywood career, of course... :)

http://fangsbites.com/ : SportsCenter Expands 7 Hours and Airs on ESPNews

If this works, I wouldn't be surprised to see the ESPNEWS brand tossed and the channel rebranded as SportsCenter. Having two brand names for the same basic idea is silly -- and SportsCenter has 31 years of history behind it. Then they need to figure out what to do with ESPN Classic... ESPN4, anyone? :)

To what end? What was either Verizon or Microsoft promoting by offering and killing the KIN so fast? Don't get me wrong, I wasn't likely to use it -- I don't know that the phone actually had an audience -- but for this to be a publicity stunt, there had to be a goal.
http://fangsbites.com/ : ESPN & ESPN Radio's Announcing Assignments for World Cup Round of 16

Just for the record, ABC/ESPN made a mistake on the above chart. Tuesday 7/6, the winners of A (Brasil bracket) and B (USA bracket) play each other. Wednesday 7/7, the winners of C (Argentina bracket) and D (Spain bracket) play each other. And I am in no way (ha!) predicting the final four by how I named the four brackets. :)

To be honest, when the first difference was revealed, I figured that the second reveal was either a DSW or a painfully-close overbid... there's no other scenario where they'd reveal a $483 difference first, right?
TechCrunch : You're Welcome, You Bastards

It certainly sounds as though Fortune and or S&S didn't quite make it clear as to what was expected. It would have been as simple as someone giving TC the quotes they wanted published *and* the excerpts to be reviewed. If the explanation wasn't that specific, then someone was relying on how TC interpreted the email. That's a bad place to be. After all, if you want to avoid "copy write" infractions, give the reviewer the "write" copy to write about.
