How can we propose wholesale changes based on the outcome of 3 games (Chelsea, Madrid, Chelsea)?

For me, it comes down to simply that it's incredibly difficult to dominate every competition every year. No team has repeated in the CL since when....Man U in the late 1990s? We've won 13 titles (14 if we win CdR) over the last 4 seasons.

I do think we need a bigger squad to keep players fresher, and most importantly, we need to come up with a way to defeat "The Parking of the Bus". Other than that, we don't need huge changes. We just need changes at the margin.

Look at what Torres said after the match:

"This is football. The best doesn’t always win. You can’t play beautifully against Barça, they’re the best team in the world. This is our way of playing. It’s not the nicest way but this is what we can offer. Barça must be proud of their style. This is not the end of an era for Barcelona. This team can continue to win for 15 more years. For me, they are the best."

Is this just La Liga minutes, or does it include all competitions? Either way, I don't think it's a positive stat. Pep does a poor job with Messi's minutes. Even when Barca is ahead by a large margin, he still keeps Messi in the match. Messi will never want to rest. It's the manager's job to distribute minutes, not the player.

I wonder if all these minutes will come back to haunt Messi later in his career. Maybe his body will break down sooner .

Serious question since I don't watch many of Madrid's matches -- do opposing teams park the bus against Madrid like they do against Barca? More and more teams have adopted the parking the bus strategy against Barca and maybe it's showing up in the standings of the league.

Since Pep took over, I believe Barca is 9-1-3 vs. Madrid. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Also, Pinto really messed up on Ronaldo's goal. The shot was right at him and went through his legs. The way he positioned his body to make the save was very awkward.

Not only did they score directly off the corner, but when does Barca actually take corners in traditional fashion? They nearly always play it short. I don't think they played one short corner all night. Wonder why? Obvious strategy change.

I actually thought the same thing. Alonso saw the stomp as it happened and immediately went over to check on Messi. I was hoping a reporter would ask Alonso about it after the match.
