I love fairytale retellings! Two of my favorites are completely unrelated to one another but both written by Stacey Jay, Of Beast and Beauty & Princess of Thorns. I'm also reading Stray by Elissa Sussman which isn't a specific retelling but is so cool and sooooo good, I'm not done but I already looked to preorder the next book (which sadly is not up yet).

I very much am the same. Not so much that I feel 1 and 2 stars are more honest but a well written one will articulate on things that that reader could not get past to enjoy it. Sometimes those are the very thing I want to find in the book (ie. love triangles). If I loved a book I often read lower star reviews after posting my own because it's interesting to see how other readers engage with a character or plot or writing style.

Hmmm, I had read the first book and it was interesting but I haven't been able to decide if I wanted to bother with the next. I think your review really highlights what I was thinking would be my issues. Thanks for a well thought out one! :)

Outlander was long and tedious but not bad at all. I can see why others are obsessed but it wasn't a book that had me rushing to the next one.

Miss Peregrine's was one I listened to on audio because others had hyped it a lot and it was okay but hardly as great as everyone made it out to be. Very creative and unique yet not so wonderful I wanted to rave about it. Sadly, when I tried the next book the narrator had changed and the story itself was dull enough I didn't bother finishing.

This is such a cute idea! I just bought book themed candles from a shop on Etsy called From The Page and she has candles and lipbalms that would be perfect for a HP reading kit. :D As it happens I bought both of her A Song of Fire and Ice series themed candles for while I'm reading it.

These are all so gorgeous in different ways. I think I'd love the Enchanted Elegance, something about this design is so Wonderland-ish and whimsical but not overly so. Love it!

I'm definitely in the 'bittersweet' ending category. I want to know what happens but kind of dread the end too. :)
