Atheist Revolution : Mississippi Seeks to Establish Legislative Prayer and Ministry Caucus to Promote Biblical Worldview

I'm so glad I moved to Maryland. I'm not free of religious non-sense, but it is like a totally different atmosphere. Good luck and I hope it gets thrown out quickly. Mississippi seems to be moving backwards in time....

Atheist Revolution : Delighting in Hell

Here is how I usually have this argument with people: I could never burn someone as a punishment for a crime. Even if it were for one day, knowing that they will survive it and have no rest from the flames. My morals trump god's? Then god doesn't exist. Most xtians don't have an answer for that one except, "we don't always understand godly things and ideas..." - you got that right....because it doesn't make sense.

I pledge that I will not be voting for Mike Huckabee for President in 2012. Can we start a group or something....Athesist Against Huckabee......as in AAH AAH AAH!!!
Atheist Revolution : Obama Administration Will No Longer Defend DOMA

This is exactly why I'm moving out of the south. Marriage equality may come here, but it will be many, many years. As of now, Maryland looks promising. The vote in the assembly should be soon, but it looks like it might pass soon. Otherwise, DC here we come. We want to marry and adopt. NEITHER of which will happen in this state anytime soon because of religious bias. I always ask the opponents to give me one NON-religious reason why they are against gay marriage and NONE of them can even come up with one other than something about demeaning marriage. I have to respond back that I've been with my partner for 19 years. How about you? My "unmarriage" has lasted more than most peoples "real marriage!!!" This issue really gets under my skin - as you can see... My recent post The Confessions of a Pastor…a funny story…

Atheist Revolution : Idiot of the Week: Gov. Robert Bentley

I saw an panel with Bill Maher where he got the xtain guest to basically say she was superior because she "knew" something he did not. He did such a great job at pointing out the problem with religion and the fact that they think they are superior and to us. The reason they can't represent us in government is because they pity us because we are inferior and/or just ignorant in their eyes. My recent post Changes…

Atheist Revolution : Science Education Under Siege in Mississippi

This is one high school Biology teacher that will never, ever teach any form of religious mythology. Or perhaps I should teach from the Koran....I guess those Mississippi legislators would just love that right....it is call the religious liberties act, right. I make no secret of evolution and teach it very open and honestly. Most students at least accept the possibility at least in class to my face. I've never had one single parent complaint. My recent post Changes…

Atheist Revolution : When Superstition is Involved, Be a Dick

I don't know if this is trend anywhere else, but I've heard a lot of kids recently saying "Buddha Bless you...." They were obviously being funny, but when I heard it, it caught my attention.

Atheist Revolution : District Court Rules Against Religiously-Motivated Bigotry

This is A TOTAL WIN! It is very exciting for us gay people in Mississippi! It just means we are one step close to equality. If you want a good laugh, check out some conservative blogs. The hate and religious craziness is so sad, it's funny. I can't help to go from frustrated, to angry, to finding them completely ignorant! Get ready Mississippi - gay marriage will be a reality - even in Mississippi!!!

Mississippi Atheists : Only 27% of U.S. Southerners Accept Evolution

I really think that people just don't have an understanding of what it is. I really think they've been told from the pulpit that it is "bad" and therefore, for most people, that is the end of the story. Rarely do they have adequate instruction on the topic and rarely do people have the incentive to do their own research into the topic.

Mississippi Atheists : Evolution is Taboo in Mississippi

Almost every other science teacher I know refuses to teach the topic. Although it is larger part of the state framework now, some teacher STILL refuse to even mention the topic. I was told by another 8th grade science teacher that she DOESN'T believe in it at all! How do we combat this? I teach it open and honestly. I don't hold back. So far I haven't had many complaints.
