Fantastic review! I'm really excited to read this one, Laini Taylor's other books have been great and her writing is pure magic. It sounds like the characters in this book are very well fleshed out!

I have the first book (which I HAD to have because of all the hype) but still haven't read it. I'm glad the friendship is good but it's really a shame that the world-building isn't that great, especially in a fantasy.

I know what you mean about a story being too short, I have this same problem with novellas all the time. Sometimes you just need more. Nice review! :)

I heard someone type "puppy" and I arrived as soon as I could. SO cute! Puppy antics are the best (and worst, haha) plus those puppy teeth. When we brought ours home she would cry at night because she missed her litter mates and I would have to get out of bed at like 2am and hold her until she fell back asleep, haha. Fun times! Enjoy your new reads as well! :)

This review pretty much just made me even more excited to read this book, if that was possible. I can't wait to meet Mia! (Although I am scared for the no mercy part, I hope nothing TOO heartbreaking happens!)

I actually haven't heard of this box before now but wow, it's definitely expensive >< All the stuff seems pretty cool though, I like that there is a book and a whole lot of swag too. Thanks for sharing! :)

Manon has my vote! I just finished this one and definitely agree with some of the issues. Although I absolutely love this series, I noticed that everyone was being paired off to the point where I almost didn't care about the individual romances anymore. I loved all the action though so it kind of made up for it, for me. My biggest issue was that the characters felt out of character sometimes. Especially with Aelin, I just felt distanced from her and what she was thinking, especially compared to previous books.

I still have yet to read Sabriel, or anything by Garth Nix for that matter! Clearly, I'm missing out. The romance sounds a bit random but if it is done well after the introduction I'm game. It's awesome when a reread can still make you feel ALL the emotions :) As for the second book, I've seen it around a lot but I didn't know what it was about until now. I'm definitely interested! You're right that it's tough when you know what happened due to history though, you can't help but hope it changes xD

Yeah, I know what you mean, I have the same internal struggle when trying to rate. I was just thinking about this concept when I rated a contemporary book four stars and I was like wait I rated some of my fave fantasy books four stars and THESE TWO THINGS ARE NOT THE SAME xD I try to point out negatives and positives (at least from my POV) but I guess those can be biased as well. Interesting topic!
