You nailed all the important points! This is exactly what my husband and I did during the wedding planning process and for sure talked about the finance of it ahead of time. We wanted to make sure we can realistically pay for everything and if our budget was realistic.
I don't think I've ever tried sneaker wedges but I think you have convinced me to try. I'm not tall at all and I always wanted to add some height to a casual outfit and wearing heels always makes an outfit look dressy. And that fact that these are comfortable, I'm sold!
