good to have you back! my kids have been sleeping together for about 6 months and it's really sweet for them. 2 nights ago, Col was fidgeting and talking and keeping his sister awake and I suggested he go back to his old room so he wouldn't bother Rose. He did. And Rose carried his pillows in for him and I wondered if they'd prefer to sleep alone. And then in the middle of the night Col had a nightmare and I asked if he wanted to move back in with his sister for comfort. And he did!

Super cool. I used to work with adults with developmental and physical disabilities and there were various opportunities for them to ski, kayak, horseback ride, ride with sled dogs, etc...and it always made my heart ache (happily) to see my dear friends with cerebral palsy ripping down the ski slope or waving from a canoe.

Love the conversation about what you remember about childhood. Let that guide you. Have you seen the book, "Your money or your life" ? It has been a helpful guide for Dan and me (or, for me as I report to Dan) in seeing where our money goes and understanding how much we have to work to buy that 1) meal out 2) latte 3) etc.... And how when we have more money, we spend more money without our actual happiness necessarily increasing. It sounds simplistic but it's really a whole perspective shift. And god, no one wants to be poor, or go without the things that make us happy, but...when I start to see the monthly latte quota as equal to a couple hours of work, I realize I can work happily at the library with my own coffee from home. Justine, Thanks for bringing up this topic. I wonder, on a frequent basis, how I will deal with body image when it comes up in our house. When my son massages me and talks (lovingly) about my "arm fat," I don't correct him or disparage myself. When Rose says, about a new dress up outfit: don't i look beautiful? I say: what a sparkly dress! How does it feel on you? I try not to mention my daughter's beauty to her ever (which is hard because I find her insanely gorgeous), but I think that's more information than she needs. It's irrelevant to what she wants to do right now: hula hoop, run, bike, swim, play. It's all hard stuff for sure. But I think you're right, modeling self-love and moderation seems like a good foundation to lay. My recent post Goodbye Grandma

There's no way I'd be able to say "no" to that little face wanting some soup. We were the same. Rose was offended at 8 months if everyone else was chomping on a bagel but her, and I mean very *loudly* offended.
