I believe Dawkins when he says he wants to take a principled opposition to debating creationists, and although the subject has come a long way intellectually (though probably not far enough for people with brains between their ears), Dawkins' opposition is one I can understand (plus, he only interviewed Haggard, not "debated" him, for those who cite this as an example of where Dawkins has flouted his principles).

WCL meets the criteria (though, by admission, he tends towards molinism), and so it's possible Dawkins is extending his principle here. It's hard to tell whether it is a kop-out, for obvious reasons, but to think otherwise is mere speculation.

(Fwiw, I think the Dawk should try and debate the Kalam Cosmological Argument with Craig; the hot air would be unbearable...)

Do you angry old queens believe everything you read? I think you would prefer this all to fit your agenda; me I'm going to be cautious, not write it off out of hand, but assume what the students were actually singing was "you're a fucking Tory too" - the very same song they sing about Nick Clegg.

When?

OH two things
1) I've seen more than one report made by people who were not there mention Tom Watson's use of the word "comrade". If you'd been there I'm sure you would have appreciated the humour, as Watson said it right after someone in the audience made a comment saying "comrade is a word that alienates people" - a point most in the audience felt irrelevant.

2) Instead of criticising, you should use your relative popularity on the blogosphere to create a right wing version of netroots - this was precisely the advice of Tim Montgomerie (present yesterday) who said "that he never gets invited to similar events on the right".

If you did that you could count me in

It's so tough to stop, like heroin I suppose - blogging is lovely and more-ish. I suppose you'll have to ask yourself some big questions now though, what to do now in your spare time. You could become an anonymous blogger??

received wisdom has it that the Soviets were responsible for Katyn, but I am perhaps ignorant in comparison to your old friend Anna. I am, however, reassured by the words of John Gray in his book black Mass who said there are more Marxists in English higher education than there were in the Soviet Union - the dream is not over because the wall fell down.

I am also reassured that our people, the working class people, and our comrades from other classes, will remain. I don't know where you're from, I assume you're a scouser, unless you've adopted this humour, but your heritage, language and history will remain too - especially your history, which can't die.

You, Frank, are being low, trying to make me out to be a middle class hack. Well, I'm neither. Of course, I take up Bob's invitation to take a joke, but I fail to see what's funny? In the spirit of the humour, I earn nowhere near as much as Bob does running around for the sinking ship (I think Lee John Barnes has some nicer things to say about your little party).
