The "trinity" is a strictly catholic thing. This consists of God the Father, Son and Holy ghost. The protestant definition doesn't assert all are God, but it does consider the Son to be part of the godhead as too the Holy Ghost or spirit. In fact and speaking as a former Christian priesthood holder, I think there is some convenient prevarication going on due to some missing elements of the story in the Biblical teachings but when it comes to defining the reality it is thus. God the father is the creator and there is none like Him. The Son is a teacher, a man who is the conduit through which the message is sent. The Spirit is the human CONSCIENCE which God gave to us all. It is the means by which we determine good from evil, truth from lies and so on. When we learn to listen to our consience properly, then we have learned to listen to the Holy Spirit. Indeed such a state is known as being "in the spirit" and it is the same as having Islam is to us Muslims. Once you have it, teachings as such are hardly needed, because the true path is clear. The Spirit is NOT 1/3 of God, it is the essence of God in ourselves. I hope this has been informative for you.
