Why doesn't Mitt appear on these Sunday shows without his wife? Is he afraid to take a full half hour of questions aimed at him?

It's about time the Religious Right admitted that they wanted to take Jesus out of the equation. None of that "love they neighbor as thyself" crap! It really is all Mine ! Mine! Mine! I'm glad that Fischer finally fessed up to the fact that his religious feelings begin and end in the Book of Genesis!

This sounds like a terrific read! I enjoy epistolary novels, so this should do the trick.I love seeing how various writers think and discovering how innovative their plotting can be,

Thank you Jennifer for explaining what was somewhat of a nebulous concept I had been trying to put into words myself. My big fear is that most Americans will buy into the "victimization" argument and see the attempts to assure religious liberty as instead attacks on the narrow beliefs espoused by various denominations. In other words, these narrow minded individuals say that "by protecting "them" from my narrow view of religion you are infringing upon my religious belief that I must create laws to make them adhere to my religious beliefs. How dare you?" And I fear that most Americans will not want this purported "right" taken away from their religion.

But, let's face it, in the end iff it were down to just Mormons and evangelical Christians, for example, they would be hell-bent to fight each other tillonly one victor remains. False allies, indeed.

Someone needs to compile all these wonderful hate videos and buy some TV time to show them across the country just to remind those few remaining Christian denominations that haven't pissed their brains down the toilet what is being said in their name or the name of their so-called Savior. It's time for all Christians to be held accountable for what others say in the name of their so-called Savior. Every Christian who does not condemn such actions is in a sense saying that this is an accurate portrayal of Jesus's teachings. I'm sorry, but I am beginning to doubt that any Christians are really on our side. The ones who claim to be make Spiro Agnew's silent majority look like all night ravers!

I wonder how the Vat would react if the American nuns devoted themselves instead to promoting celibacy among the American priesthood and hierarchy. Perhaps that should be their special mission over the coming year--peering into the private lives of the few remaining Catholic priests and holding them accountable for remaining celibate. The nuns should be tracking visitors in and out of rectories each evening, accompanying priests on camping trips with their altar boys, perhaps a nun should be assigned to each priest as he divests himself in the same room as altar boys after mass. Maybe they should make sure that priests and the young men they are counseling always have at least three feet on the ground at all times. Now that may have an impact on the future of the church more than opposing gay marriage.
