I have asked myself the housework question for the past 12 years. :) I keep trying different routines, times but to no avail. I have finally come to the conclusion that my house will probably not be sparkling clean until I am finished homeschooling (which will be in 6 years) but I will have had some wonderful memories of being with and teaching my children.

Brandy, thank you so much for this series, especially this post. I have been struggling with commonplacing for both myself and my children. I love the idea of flagging a page in your reading for copying out later. I always come upon a quote in my reading but don't want to stop reading to put it in my commonplace book, therefore it never gets copied. If I flag it I can copy out the quotes when I am finished that day's reading or finished reading the book. I like this!

Brandy, I am looking forward to your 31 Day series. I liked Saving Mr. Banks mostly because I love Emma Thompson. I have teenagers so we have been watching our fill of YA movies. We watched Divergent (not as bad as I thought it was going to be,) The Fault in Our Stars (did not like this but, shhh, don't tell my daughter,) and we are going to see If I Stay next week. I am not looking forward to seeing this as I thought the book was horribly written but I am trying to be an open-minded mama.

Amber, it is now my turn to blush. The comment was on Sarah's blog so I assume it was yours. :) I have been thinking about this all day. I might need to consider actually doing this because I have what I call 'literary ADD.' I jump around in my reading all of the time. I have oodles of books that I have started but (just as you said) when something new comes in, I drop the old book and move on to the new one. I am wondering if making categories and lists will actually help the book-jumping but I am willing to try because it is annoying. Thanks for giving me something to think about.

What an interesting post! I just read a comment on another blog about making a list of the various categories you want to read about and then list the books that would go in each category. My initial thought was 'how silly to go to all that trouble, just pick up a book and read it!" In reading your post, though, I can see the value of having cateogories and lists. In doing it this way, you can be guaranteed of having a balanced reading life. After having a large chunk of time in reading just fiction, this interests me.

I am looking forward to AO's upcoming project on this topic. I am interested to see what books they choose.

I love this new system! The best part is seeing commenters' latest blogpost. I can see where this improves community. This just might encourage readers to comment more--a problem that seems to be rampant in the blog world these days.
