They were called Furries- a general term for people who identify as having an "animal persona" (not being one myself, but as an avid furry webcomic reader, this is what I gather). Not all of them wear full furry suits in real life, but a lot of them have developed their "alter-ego" very extensively online. I believe Plushies are people attracted to stuffed animals (OR a term for the stuffed animals themselves). There's a lot of complexities in the furry community!

Another quick fact-check here... the rumors of the pimping are not regarding Penn State donors, but donors to Sansusky's charity organization The Second Mile. Sandusky was able to keep an office at the university to run his charity after retirement, but was not a university program. Not making it any less horrific to what was done (if that rumor is true), but let's not confuse facts- this was not an official Penn State program.

To correct some of your facts... Sandusky retired from Penn State in 1999, but was allowed to continue to run an office there, outside of the program, to do charity work. So he was not an employee of the university in 2002. Also to quote Wikipedia (which is pretty close to what other sources that actually pay attention to this stuff have told me): According to the indictment, in 2002 assistant coach Mike McQueary, then a Penn State graduate assistant,[18] walked in on Sandusky having anal intercourse with a ten-year-old boy. The next day, he reported the incident to Paterno, who informed Curley. Ultimately, the only action Curley and Schultz took was to order Sandusky not to bring any children from Second Mile to the football building, an action that was approved by school president Graham Spanier. The indictment accused Curley and Schultz not only of failing to tell the police, but also of falsely telling the grand jury that McQueary never informed them of sexual activity.[19] So... I have some sympathy for JoPa in this case... in that he did what was legally obligated of him based on only having second-hand knowledge of someone that didn't even technically work for the university. I suppose he could have gone to the police or put more pressure on the higher-ups once he saw they weren't going to do anything, but it's not like he did nothing at all. I'm not sure I buy that he was part of the coverup... but who knows.

I never wrote in to comment on this even though I read it right after it was posted, but I think this post is one of my favorite breakdowns of the candidates thus far. It evaluates each candidate on their strengths and I love how honest and in-depth it is. I wish every analysis of the candidates was done like this.

The outrage at AT&T is a bit ridiculous... the original flash mobs started years and years ago to do exactly like what the AT&T commercial is portraying- some random silly thing, all at once, with a bunch of people. That's the original purpose of the flash mob (look up the Hallelujah Chorus flash mob or the Bolero flash mob to see awesome ones). It is too bad that they have been co-opted in recent times by people doing bad or violent things... but that happens to pretty much every awesome/fun thing ever, and it's why we have so many stupid rules to protect us from ourselves, because a few bad apples spoil the whole bunch. So, to the person who wrote in... try to find out about the world from places other than the news (even Fox News or Drudge Report) because the news is a place full of negative, terrible stories, and you'll never learn about the positive things.

The IPI points out a lot of things that should be obvious to most people, but somehow just... aren't. I'd say "numbers don't lie" but numbers are used in many dishonest ways pretty often. However, this is a pretty strong correlation. :)

Story of my life... and why I'm avoiding social networks on the day any major political news is discussed. I've participated in several of these, often getting up to 80-100 comments in length for the whole conversation. It's impossible to keep defending myself when all I want to do is bang my head against the table... so I've sadly gone back to ignoring it.
